About this listen

Alexei is lost. On the run from his criminal family, hiding out in Hyde Park, he has no idea what the point or purpose of his life is anymore. Until he’s served coffee by a strange young man, one whom Alexei can’t get out of this head. And when Alexei realizes his favorite barista isn’t quite human after all, his obsession only deepens. Can he use this new knowledge to get even closer to the sweet, strange vampire of his dreams?

Jay is lonely. He has his friends (so nice!) and his job at the coffee shop (so fun!) but he knows he doesn’t really belong in Hyde Park, not for keeps. And yet, he can’t help wanting to pretend, especially with his new favorite regular, a handsome human who smells divine and watches Jay like he really matters. Alexei might just be the nicest thing to happen to Jay since he can remember, even more so when the human generously offers himself up for dinner.

But Jay’s past is complicated, and certain promises have been made. Can he and Alexei weather the storm that tracks him down, or will Jay’s new life be taken away from him before it can really begin?

Johann is a heated, fated-mates MM paranormal romance with an HEA and no cliffhanger. It contains a sweet, cinnamon roll vampire and the stoic, obsessed human who will do anything to stay by his side. It also contains steamy scenes between two men, and the moderate violence (and mentions of blood) that one might expect from a vampire romance. While each book focuses on a different couple, the series is best enjoyed in order.

Lovely

This was simply lovely and delightful. The complete acceptance that Alexei has for Jay, and how he shows it unabashedly and makes sure to use every love language squeezed my heart in the best way. The ending was absolutely PERFECT for them.

Sweet baby Jay!!

Narration: Michael Ferraiuolo did a great job bringing Jay and Alexei to life. We have a bubbly, sweet Jay and a sexy, accented Alexei. What more could I ask for?

The Story:

Oh my sweet darling Jay. They just don't get more precious than him. I swear I wanted to wrap that vamp up in a blanket burrito and snuggle him to death. Though I think Alexei might have a bit of problem with that. He's quite possessive of his sweet mate. And who wouldn't be if Jay was theirs? He's kind, caring, and honest to a fault. You'd never have to worry about him hiding things from you since he almost always just blurts out whatever comes to mind.

I have to say I didn't know if anyone could truly deserve Jay, but Alexei certainly proved me wrong. He worshipped Jay. That vampire could do no wrong in Alexei's eyes. And the fact that Jay turns out to be a bit of a pillow princess? GOLD. He deserved that after having spent his entire life serving others. Alexei didn't mind one bit. In fact, he delighted in taking care of Jay. Relished it even.

I'm happy to report that we are not done with this amazing series. A new character is introduced and I'll give you a hint. We've already met his mate. He's also a certified psychopath. The new guy, not his mate in case you were confused. You can see why I'm excited right? Psychopath romances are some of my favorites. The concept intrigues me to no end. Add Vampires into the mix? *chefs kiss*

My favorite Grae Bryan book!

Johann has to be my favorite book from Grae Bryan! Jay is such a sweet, pure soul who wants nothing more than to be with his friends in Hyde Park.  If you looked in the dictionary under sunshine you’d absolutely find a picture of him there.  Contrast that with Alexei who has fled to Hyde Park to get away from his brother, the new head of the family organization.  These two are beyond perfect for each other and while I wouldn’t call Alexei grumpy, he’s definitely the brooding type so I’d call them more brooding/sunshine.  Mix an amazing story with Michael Ferraiuolo narrating and you have an amazing audio book!

kotyonok 🖤

Johann is one of my favorites from this series. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the audiobook. Jay is just the sweetest to ever sweet lol – he is sunshine personified. Alexei isn’t what I would call grumpy, but more of the strong silent type. I love how he accepted Jay for who he was from the very beginning. He just wants Jay to be happy and he wants to be the one to give Jay whatever he needs. On paper Jay and Alexei are complete opposites but they fit perfectly together. This story has it all – size difference, possessiveness, co-dependency, fated mates, first times, and found family!

As always, Michael Ferraiuolo did an amazing with the narration. Although Alexei is from New York I wasn’t expecting Alexei to have that accent. I was hoping that Alexei would have at least a little bit of a Russian accent when calling Jay “kotyonok” but that is just a personal preference. I can’t wait for the audiobook for Wolfgang next!

Jay & Alexei

When I first read the story, I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous books and I rounded it up from 3.5. I didn't quite feel the connection to this one as I had before but I still found it worth reading. Now, I'm raising this to a full 4 stars after listening to the audiobook. I enjoyed the story alot more with Michael Ferraiuolo's great narration.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Johann - How Perfect, How Lucky, How Nice

Johann - How Perfect, How Lucky, How Nice

Jaybird, Johann’s nickname, is the perfect showing of affection for the adorable little vampire. Unexpected in all ways, he finds himself drawn to Alexi, a Russian mobster hiding from his family. This Grey Bryan story is one of my favorites and with this wonderful narration, I can listen to it over and over again! This series is marvelous, and getter to know each ‘found family’ member is delightful!

Alexei and Jay!

It was great to get to reread Johann through the audiobook! I’ve always loved Jay’s character and seeing him find happiness (like he deserved) with Alexei was the best. The narration I enjoyed as well. Michael Ferraiuolo captured Jay’s sweetness perfectly and I liked how he did Alexei’s accent. I’m looking forward to the Wolfgang audiobook after the glimpse we got of Michael’s portrayal of him.

Johann is simply my favorite

I absolutely adore Johann. He's both naive and wise for being around as long as he has. His view of the world is very unique and I love how soft he is. I do think at times the others think that because of his naivety he doesn't know what's going on when he is very much aware. This is one of my favorite series and I love the world building Grae Bryan has done with these vampires. Alexei is a human trying to distance himself from his mob family and has settled into the quaint town of Hyde Park. Johann catches his eye from the beginning but he is afraid to get involved since he doesn't want him mob ties to scare him off. Little does he know just how well Johann can take care of himself. Johan never likes to keep secrets so it isn't long before Alexei is introduced into Johann's world. Alexei is the best human for Johann and these two are super sweet with each other. I will say that I was a little taken aback with Michael's narration for Alexei but in the end it grew on me and his performance is a solid as always. Wolfe's introduction is perfectly executed and I can't wait to hear that one!!
