About this listen

On the surface Ben seems to have it all: money, influence, good looks. He smiles and jokes in all the right places, but it's all a façade. Inside he's a wreck, and it's only getting worse. With his congressman father using Ben's recent kidnapping for his own political agenda and Ben still struggling to get over the only guy he's ever loved, he feels like he's losing his grip on reality, and he's quickly spiraling out of control.

Then he meets Dante, an enigma of a man with as much self-hatred as Ben has. In Dante Ben finds what he didn't know he needed: Dante's control, his power, is the only thing that clears the fog in Ben's brain. For the first time in his life, Ben has a lover who just might need Ben as much as Ben needs him. When they're together the demons from their pasts don't lurk so heavily on their shoulders.

But Dante can't fix him. Not when a memory from Ben's past is haunting him in ways he doesn't understand, waiting for him to put together the missing pieces in his head...and what he discovers just might have the power to break him for good.

Warning: light BDSM themes and mentions of abuse.

say it ain't so....

I loved this series... I don't want to say goodbye to these 5 men! I wish there was one more short book where Elliot could help Tristan's mom

Ben's Story

I enjoyed Ben's story and really liked the ending but it was a little slow for me and a bit depressing as Ben worked through his issues. I had a little trouble connecting with Ven and Dante together until the end when their relationship did make more sense to me. Jack Dupont was really good and his Dante accent was SAF.

Questionable accents, but great story.

The narrator made the Italian man (Dante) sound more Latino and Slovakian than Italian, and it was mildly irritating.

Fantastic series

I’ve enjoyed this series. How the characters play a part from each book onto the next. Very well written and composed.

Mixed Emotions

As always, Riley tears deep into the guts of her characters. There are really messed up people in our world. I went back and forth between frustration and sympathy with all the angst. I think books like this help me to be more empathic in the real world. You never know what hurt and pain people carry with them.
Let’s talk about Jack DuPont. Wow, this man can tell a story. His accents are good. His emotions are so spot on. I could even tell the difference between Latino with Mateo, and Italian with Dante. He’s such a talented narrator! I don’t know how he manages to talk like a woman without making me cringe, so kudos to him! I love his style so much.

Slow, but getting there

This story starts slow, but picks up eventually. I would've suggested more showing and less telling if I were the author's editor, I don't normally like to be spoon-fed how everyone is feeling when it's pretty obvious, but the story is worth the struggle to get through the first 20-something chapters.

Ben and Dante are wonderful!

I loved every moment of this audiobook. Their struggles were so painful... but making peace with their pasts made them stronger. An EPIC love story! Worth every second!

Okay… I lied.

I think this is officially my favorite of this series.

There is something so special in the grievance and pain of lose and finding love and stability through it. Those that have lost might understand what I mean.

Ben really went through the ringer and had to claw his way out of the dark. And Dante is just lovely.

I am always surprised at how shocked I am when a series just gets better and better with the more that I listen. 10/10 - it’s a good one.

All the feels...

This is the conclusion of an extremely compelling series. I love a book that can make me feel something, and this one gripped my emotions like a vice. The characters, the challenges, all of it, wrapped up into a place my heart could finally settle, but don't think you're not going to earn it. This author is wonderful and knows how to tell a story, and the narrator is perfect. 5 stars...
