About this listen

Retrieve Jensen was desperate. He was working himself into the ground seven days a week to try to save his family’s legacy - their cattle ranch in Montana. But one day he wondered who the heck he was doing all this backbreaking labor for, when he didn’t have a child and there wasn’t a prospect for marriage in sight. He wasn’t looking for true love - didn’t believe in it anyway. He wanted more of a partner - someone who could at least ride if not rope, who wanted children, and who knew how to cook and clean.

When Jayne Clarkson’s friend laid the classified ad on her desk, while making a sarcastic comment about the intelligence of its writer, instead of being repelled, Jayne found herself intrigued by someone who would call himself a “no nonsense” man.

While her horrified friends watched what they were sure was going to be a train wreck, Jayne contacted Trieve and ended up spending a month with him in Montana.

Sparks flew between the two of them immediately, and although they were dynamite in bed - and he had proven to be even more “no nonsense” than she thought she could handle and he’d given her more than her first spanking over those four fantastic weeks - they both knew that she wasn’t really what he was looking for.

Or was she?

I absolutely loved this book, and the finish as well. The only less than positive response that I have, is on how the narrator mispronounced many of the words. I wish I could read these kinds of books for a publisher, it would be so much fun! Anyway, thank you for your wonderful stories.

I loved the story

It was a sweet story. Full of feels. Spanking, too. It was beautiful. Especially the end! Narration could have been better, though.

Either the narrator was drunk or only has a 6th grade education because most of the time the words sound slurred. That is, the words that he can actually pronounce. Literally painful to listen too!!

Worst narration ever!

Not the best story, struggled to finish it and I'm not sure if that's because of the actual story or the narrator.

Ok story. Horrible narrator.

Narrator very uncomfortable reading aloud, mispronounced common words and his voice not masculine enough for the male character. I couldn’t listen past 35 minutes before giving up. Love Carolyn Faulkner so I’ll purchase kindle book after I return Audible version.

Narrator killed it

I think you’ll like Ms Faulkner’s storycraft. Good character development and a nice plot. It has some good conflict and resolution to keep things interesting.
The down side: the narration has to be one of the WORST I’ve ever heard (I own over 2000 audiobooks so that’s saying a lot!). This guys’ vocabulary obviously doesn’t rate a secondary education since he can’t pronounce words with more than two syllables. In addition his phrasing is atrocious! Weird pauses long enough to indicate a period in the middle of sentences where they obviously do not belong. A few times the pause was so long I thought my player had stopped running. It was horribly distracting. I will not listen to another book narrated by Mr Whadel. (Though I guess to be fair this is really a failing of the audio editors - if there were any.)
Ms Faulkner: PLEASE listen to your books!! I want to buy more of your work on audio but I’m afraid to.
Personally I’m visually impaired and tried to stick this out to the bitter end but I just couldn’t. I’m returning this book and will have to read it on Kindle (no matter how much it hurts my eyes). That is what I suggest you do.

Great story, AWFUL narrator!
