About this listen

I’m the most successful jeweler of my generation, a loyal friend and some say the most handsome man in London. But I’m not a good boyfriend. I’ve learned from my past that a beautiful woman will never outshine the precious gems I deal in.

That all changes when I spot Hollie Lumen. When she’s dazzled by the royal jewels my family crafted, she brings my world to a screeching halt. Despite her hand-me-down dress and borrowed shoes, Hollie is even more stunning than the jewelry on display and for the first time in my life, I want to impress a woman. Feisty, funny and ferociously independent, turns out she’s unimpressible.

Then I find out Hollie’s American and about to fly back to Oregon because her boss just fired her. I’m going to use all my powers of persuasion to convince her to stay.

She’s American. I’m British.

She lives in a trailer. I sleep in a penthouse.

She sells on Etsy. My first store was on Fifth Avenue.

She can’t bear secrets. I’m running from what I can’t hide.

They say opposites attract. Hollie and I combust.

Mr. Knightsbridge is a stand-alone romance.

competition

I loved how Hollie started out as a designer intern on a competitor team. Dexter spotted her at one of the first events and couldn't take his eyes off of her. I also loved how when her team lost in the first round, she was let go Dexter immediately scooped her up to his team and made sure her position was a paid position. He was upset that she wasn't bring paid at the other job.
This story had many lessons that were learned both on Dexter's side and Hollies side.

Cute until…

…the conflict arose. What a waste of a good story. To make the person leave the relationship for that reason was dumb and rude to the readers. It was seriously baffling. I’m disappointed in Louise for this tragically poor storyline. The narrators were great and I have hope for the remaining books in the series because I liked the first book and first 2/3 of this one so much.

Fun American British story

I have probably listened to 90% of Louise Bay's audio books. I've enjoyed every one. My one caveat is the portrayal of Holly. No red blooded American woman in her 20's will be using the euphemisms such as "Jiminy Cricket, Holy Hercules or gosh darn it"...just way too silly. I also had to speed through Holly's continuous narrative of being trailer trash. It became very tedious and incorrect view of women growing up with disadvantages. I don't believe that was Louise Bay's intent, but it came across that way. I do love the way the characters from the other titles are intertwined. The friendship of the "Duke of Edinburgh Boys" is a real delight.

Not bad, but repetitive on topics

The story would be five stars if the author hadn’t gone and added too many mentions about the trailer park our heroine grew up in. I get it, she had a hard life taking care of everyone including her dead beat parents. But if you are pulling yourself up by your bootstraps to improve your life, quit having self doubts about your origins. I don’t go through life angsting over the drama from my earlier life and I don’t want to hear it to the point where half way through the book I’m driven to the rate and review because I can’t take it anymore!

Understanding

The author has a deep understanding of interpersonal relationships. Sometimes the repeated inner dialogue becomes repetitive.

Double Sexy!

Dexter and Shane East give a double whammy in sexy! Nobody narrates the sexy like Shane East. I loved Dexter in this story. I loved the playful sexy dialog between Dexter and Holly. The story and plot created a beautiful love story. The only complaint I had and have had with many female characters is their reluctance to accept the generous nature of their love interests. They admire them for their wealth, but cringe or become insulted when they offer to help them or offer to buy them something. That's antithetical. Otherwise, I loved Holly's dedication to her family. A great read!

Characters complimented each other

I throughly loved the story. Even with the characters Dexter and Holly from two different worlds they complimented each other so well. They made each other think and brought out qualities in each other. Had my heart a flutter.

People are who they are . . .

I enjoyed this book. A lot of reviewer‘s had issues with how many times the heroine mentioned be sunny trailer park. I am a really that it could become a drinking game. But I also recognize the fact that we have someone who seems to have not spent a lot of time outside of her original environment, who didn’t go to college, who always assumed that her life would only be what it had been and could not see beyond that without a large stoke of luck that she barely believed in. Often times those people can only reflect on who they are and where they’ve been because they can barely see a path forward and I can’t imagine that anyone would do less than look down on them. I still enjoyed the book I’m glad it wasn’t too overwrought and I am so glad that her parents finally got jobs. Always love the Shane narrations!
