About this listen

Threatened by university cutbacks, Professor Abigail Bern's only hope is to publish a provocative research paper - soon. Planning to covertly observe behavior in the notorious Dark Haven BDSM club, she takes a receptionist job. When the owner calls upon her to assist in a demonstration, she's appalled. Then fascinated. Under the unyielding hands of the master known as my Liege, she discovers a need to be more than an observer.

His late wife had been the center of his life, and Xavier Leduc wants no other. But when his new receptionist does her utmost to keep an emotional distance from him, he's intrigued and digs deeper. She's adorable. Intriguingly intelligent, beautifully submissive, sweetly vulnerable. He soon realizes her defenses are keeping her on the fringe of her sexuality - and her life. As he draws her into fuller participation, she unconsciously does the same for him. She begins to fill his world.

Ever since the night she met my Liege Xavier, Abby has questioned everything she believes about herself. She's falling for the stern owner of Dark Haven and thinks he's beginning to care for her, until the day he learns why she's in his club.

Awful male narrator

What did you like best about this story?

Love the plot and the characters.

What didn’t you like about Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross ’s performance?

Wen Ross, the male narrator, is just dreadful. He makes Xavier sound like a young Bela Lugosi as Dracula. I was hard-pressed to listen to the entire book and I LOVE anything by Cherise Sinclair. The narrator for her Shadowlands books - Noah Michael Levine - is FAR superior.

Female character was too whiny!

It was a good story except the female character went overboard on thinking everyone was going to get angry and scream. Even those who had already proved themselves to be nothing but calm, rational people. Her self pity took up too much of the story. I finally had to fast forward through some of it. Talking about it for a couple of minutes and talking about it for an entire 12 minute chapter or two different things. There comes a point where you’re just repeating the same thing over and over and over. Other than this problem, the book is very good. It has a great Plot and ends with a happily ever after. The male narrator does a great job.

Totally Enjoyable

When you add two great voice actors with a story by a great author, you get magic. I read the story some time ago, and it was great. However, pairing the story with two great voice actors like Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross just brought the whole thing to life. Is it worth the credit, YES. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up.

Loves it and hated it!

I loved Xzavier and Abby but
Hated the humiliation of the spanking and other

Great realistic BDSM

I really enjoyed this story, loved the character development with Xavier and Abby. Things develop and grow between them in a believable way. Cherise Sinclair is my go to BDSM romance author. She knows what she’s writing about and that is obvious and it add an authenticity that many authors lack. If you’re looking for a BDSM romance this is for you and I recommend you check out the shadowlands series by this author also. Great performance too!

So Beautifully Read

I love how Cherise writes and how beautifully she shows the BDSM world. Showing them all as one big family is the best way I've ever seen it described and the trials Abigail and Xavier go through make the story so much more real and makes you fall even more in love with the story. I've previously read Cherise's books and I loved every last one of them, but getting to hear Kai and Wen narrate them bring them more alive and make me love them even more than I already do.

very educational

Any additional comments?

The heroine ( Abby) was annoying. As for her being 'intriguingly intelligent', think again...
Master Xavier, the Dom all subs want, has not committed to any one woman since his wife’s death four years before.
The BDSM in this tale is hot. The games Ms. Sinclair devises are so hot!!!! It's because they involve a pursuit and capture theme with a fun kinky twist.
Between the erotic journey and personal issues resolved, this story ends in a trademark Ms. Sinclair happily ever after. Its a very educational story about BDSM lifestyle.

Multitude of emotions

Abby is a professor that is used to have control and is coming out of a relationship where she refused to be a submissive.
She is only at Dark Haven for observation. Xavier is a Dom still not ready to commit after losing his wife but cant help being drawn to Abby.
The story is so great and have so much feelings, I cried and laughed and of course I got excited because this author never fails in making good really hot scenes. She masters the challenge of both making a good story and giving you enough erotic scenes that you don't ever get bored.
I loved how Xavier plucked away Abby's insecurities about her body. If I should mention something it's that her "revenge" on her sister should have been more severe.
It feels like I live in the book so again I disappear in one of Sinclair's books and I love it.

Narrators:
Excellent, read with feelings and clear pronunciation. They give life to the characters

Big fat 5 stars.
