About this listen

Nathan - I’m a nervous person. I have panic attacks. I get so overwhelmed that my body rails against me; my breathing falters, my heart races, and my limbs go numb. So naturally, I thought it was a great idea to pop into a hardcore sex club. Okay, so that’s not exactly how it happened.

I researched a BDSM club in my area for nearly a year before I got the nerve to go in to hopefully find what it was I was looking for. I needed a daddy; someone to look after me and help me out when I got nervous. Someone to care for me and help me make decisions. I wanted to be able to let go of all my worries and have the love of my daddy to make me strong. Too bad I got one look of the main floor before slipping into an anxiety attack.

But a gorgeous man came to my rescue. He was kind and gentle and everything I’d been dreaming of for months. If I could build my perfect daddy, this man was him. But would he be turned off by my nervous nature, like so many people in my past?

Declan - I remember when The Steel Door first opened. A BDSM gay club seemed like a gift from leather clad angels. The problem was the selection of patrons was limited.

Don’t get me wrong; membership was booming, but mostly with well-established couples looking to to make friends. If singles came around, usually they were looking for something different than I was. They wanted to be dominated, or to dominate, but I craved something much different. I wanted someone I could care for and look after; to support and love. I wanted to be someone’s daddy. Even if a visiting little came to the club to play, they never wanted to play for keeps. I was looking for my forever boy.

One night at the club, I saw the most beautiful boy I’d ever laid eyes on. He was perfect. He was also freaking out. I had to help him. Could this lovely nervous boy be the one I’ve been searching for? The one to accept my love and guidance and make me whole?

This low-angst, instalove, M/M romance features age play and ABDL elements and a HEA.

Great Story, Fair Narration

I love everything Jayda writes! My one issue with this audiobook is that the narrator is not believable when he does both voices. One character is a young little at 19-20, & the other man is a Daddy in his forties. The voice for Nate was SPOT ON, but the Declan’s voice reminded me of when young children pretend to be a man and make their voices sound deep and booming. It’s comical to adults because it’s not believable, & that was the same vibe I got every time that character spoke.

this was a really good book the performance I only gave us three because the Storyteller kind of had a baby boys that I didn't care for even as a little I didn't care for it

Really good narration performance he really breathed life into the characters. The story is super cute and as always I’m bummed it wasn’t longer.

Best Little Story Yet!

My favorite trope and this story is the best yet! Perfect development of character and storyline without extra added fluff. The narrator was a perfect choice for this book. Highly recommend!

Best Jayda story ever!

I absolutely loved this story. It is so sweet.

After listening to the sample I was hesitant to get the audio thinking I wouldn't like it at all. I thought it showed a great voice for a little but not a convincing voice for the Daddy and other adults. In the end I decided to get it and I'm glad I did. The sample def doesn't show the narrators wide spectrum of voices. I was pleasantly surprised. He expressed all the emotions fantastically and nailed the littles voices and did a decent job on the other voices. It might not have been a 5 star performance, I think I still prefer Zabba for Jaydas books, but I think this narrator did a great job as well.

Not Great.

The voice actor left a lot to desire. The "Daddy" voice was read as if he were the Big Bad Wolf in a story read to a toddler. It was forced. The story itself felt like it wss the first time this author attempted a "little" story. Characters aren't fleshed out at all, I hardly know anything about them and I never got attached. Even the sexy times are mediocre at best. It was hard to finish, but I managed and that's why it got 2 stars.

Writing the review I’d like to read

I’ve tried a few Jayda Marx books now, and I’m realizing they aren’t for me.

There are plenty of Daddy/Little scenes and lots of explaining about how the kink works, but there is very little else. There is no world building or scene setting. There are no three-dimensional characters, very few ancillary characters, and not much in the way of plot development. The writing is utilitarian rather than artful.

There is so much insta-love. What is more insta than insta? That is what’s here.

People who like these books really love them. Clearly there is an audience for this, but I find myself repeatedly disappointed. I am drawn in by a clever idea or promising premise, only to realize this writing just isn’t something I enjoy.

If you’re dying for stories with Littles being little and Daddies doing what daddies do, if you’re interested in having the kink explained, if you dig insta-love, you’ll probably like this and other titles by Jayda Marx. If you’re looking for soaring prose, storytelling that puts you in the room, characters who seem real, a plot that makes you feel, keep looking. You won’t find those here.

This narrator was new to me. My opinion of the narration was on par with my feelings about the writing. He did an adequate job reading the words he was given. He managed different character voices and emotions, but they were fairly cartoonish. Would probably be a good fit for children’s book narration, where the more campy style is fitting.
