About this listen

Huge, muscled, and sexy in plaid, Huck Barnett is one of the most beautiful men I’ve ever seen. Every woman in Rockhead Point wants a taste of the mountain man. Including me.

Except, after a drunken girls’ night out, instead of waking up with him in my bed, I wake up with a killer hangover and an inbox full of his texts telling me how reckless and dangerous my antics are.

Now my dad and brother want to find me a husband, and my ex-boyfriend has decided he wants the job. But I’m not looking for marriage, I’d rather have a few incredible nights with the annoying mountain hottie. Only it turns out he’s not looking for a hookup; he wants to own me.

Steamy, domineering instalove

If over the top, possessive, alphas are your thing then the Barnett brothers are for you. I loved the crazy chaos between Huck & Cora. Gemma Weir writes overly possessive, crazy jealous heroes unlike any other. Curt Bonnem and Avery Caris were perfect narrators for the beastly Huck and his sassy Cora.

Good story

Liked the first story a lot and the first narrators weren’t bad. The female narrator of this book isn’t bad but the male narrator isn’t pulling his weight. He absolutely can not do a female voice. I’m not sure I can finish listening.

Pregnancy and control trope

Spoiler alert: I’m not one for a pregnancy trope, especially one that happens without consent. Weir’s writing is pretty good, but the heavy aggression and blatant non-consensual pregnancy was extremely uncomfortable.

Erotic Mountain Man Romance

Owned by the Mountain Man by Gemma Weir is an erotic mountain man romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Curt Bonnem and Avery Caris. This is the second book in the Montana Mountain Men series and can be read as a standalone.

The first book came with a warning, and I feel like it applies to this book as well. "This book contains an over the top, jealous, unreasonable, possessive asshole. If you consider unapologetic alphaholes unacceptable, or feel their behavior is in some way abusive, then this isn't the book for you."

This is the second book of Gemma's that I have read it won't be my last. The chemistry between Huck and Cora is off the charts! Their relationship definitely isn't for everyone, but I couldn't help but root for them.

I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Kept By The Mountain Man so I can get Granger and Alice's story.

Curt and Avery did an amazing job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves erotic romances, age gap romances, mountain man romances or if you love Alphaholes!

Lost me with the forced baby

Wanted to love this book as much as the first one and it started out fun but the b-control/forced pregnancy story line was hard to swallow especially the way it was resolved with an I love you. Disappointing and not compelling. Not sexy or believable. On the fence about starting the third book.

Book 2 - can be standalone

This is book 2 in Weir's Montana Mountain Men series and can easily be read / listened as a standalone. A steamy alpha male romance that is sure to make you squirm. I love the dual narration that brings our main characters to life especially in the dual point of view it's told in. Our main characters are Huck and Cora. They have come together as Hucks brother is dating Cora's bff and once Huck sees Cora it's game over for him and his heart. He acts like a man obsessed and while it's a huge turn on for Cora he pushes things too far one too many times. I love the smooth flowing, captivating storyline. While Huck's alpha behavior is wonderful for these romances and I love the fantasy of it, the reality of it would be a whole other issue - so I'm grateful to have these audio escapes into this fantasy alpha male domineering world!

Alpha Man!

This is the second book in the Montana Mountain Men Series. This is a series of interconnected stories. Hugh and Cora's story is steamy, and fast-paced. Hugh is Beau's brother (Beau and Bonnie's story from Property of the Mountain Man, the first book in the series). He is good looking, over protective, possessive, alpha, and very controlling. Cora is Bonnie's best friend. She is young, and naive. Curt Bonnem and Avery Caris did a good job bringing this story to life. #PFPAudio

WTF? The "resolution" is a big problem

SPOILERS!

There is nothing sexy about being told "I want to breed you" and being betrayed by the person who can't tell the difference between obsession and love. I don't typically mind the possesive but sweet alpha males who are totally gone for their girl. I could not get past the plot point of him switchingout her birth control. The fact that the MMC is this book refuses to acknowledge the level of betrayal or to even apologize for stripping her of her agency is just so messed up. That said, I will probably read the rest of this series which just makes me mad at myself. I don't want to explore the reasons... I liked the narrators and the story flows overall. I just hate the objectification of "you're my property" and "I own you". It's the meaning in using that language that ruins it for me.

Can be a nice love story but…….

The love is nice and strong but the possession the entitlement and the disregard for her choice bothers me. Like that he’s a strong man but the possession is not right, hopefully the next book is not as possessive as this one.

Love this series

The epilogue makes this book. I love crazy arsehole possessive book boyfriends. I think this is my favourite in the series.
