About this listen

USA Today Best Seller!

There are many rules a priest can't break. A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.

I've always been good at following rules.

Until she came. Then I learned new rules.

My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I'm 29 years old. Six months ago I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again. I am a priest, and this is my confession.

Priest is a full-length stand-alone with an HEA. For mature audiences only.

Yup, Got What I Wanted

This is all TikTok's fault.

After reading a very frustrating book, I needed one that just cut to the chase and delivered.

Yeah. Priest delivered. It's everything you thought it would be after reading the summary and more. I'm not religious but even I needed to take a second to let my blushes cool off.

Also, Jacob Morgan killed it in the best way possible.

I'm just going to...going to sit now.

Well written erotica

Ok, parts of this book are pretty outrageous. I mean I'm atheist and even I thought some of it was bordering on blasphemy. But when you look deeper, you see that those scenes are meant allegorically; that the joys of sex and love are just as god-given as the joys of religious faith. Having said that however, If scenes of somewhat rough (consenual) sex on an altar, using blessed oils and garments during and after such encounters would be offensive to you, then you likely need to avoid this book. If you can get past that though, it's a pretty good story.

The writing is intelligent and often unexpected, the narration is beautiful and heartfelt, and the priest's struggle feels very real. The sex is, as described in the book, 'dirty' and the sexy talk is vulgar in nature. By vulgar I mean that breasts are called t!ts, a vagina is a c*nt, etc. This language is what the lovers get turned on by so sexual encounters in particular are filled with plenty of street terms for body parts and sexual positions. So this book is definitely erotica and not for the easily shocked.

The idea of a priest with an extensive sexual history is interesting, his reasons for becoming a priest are fascinating, and the woman's history is critical to the story, too. So there's an actual story here, and a good one. A well-told story, as well. However, while sometimes narrator change can work, here I felt it was not well-executed. The vast majority of the book is narrated by Jacob Morgan, so when Elena Wolfe takes a turn it's jarring. The author has changed POV so I know why they did it, but I didn't like that. And I really didn't like that the epilogue was told from the POV of Poppy, the h. It should have been told from Tyler's POV since this book was almost exclusively his story.

There is an HEA, and two final sex-in-the-church scenes. The last one is again pretty specific, but sweet imo. And it fits the characters and the history of their romance, which is important.

I liked this book a great deal, and it's an intelligent and unique approach to erotica. Recommended.

Wow 🔥 Not what you expect

I legitimately did not know what I was getting into when I picked up this book. I had heard from everybody that it was hot and addictive and seemingly blasphemous… But in the best way. By the third chapter I was fanning myself. Sierra Simone writes like no other author I’ve ever read. This was actually incredibly moving and not really as blasphemous as I would have believed upon looking at it. So don’t buy into the hype and definitely don’t judge this book by its cover… It was fantastic! And soooooooo sexy.

Should’ve Been a Duet!!

First let me say that Jacob Morgan does an AMAZING job leading this performance. It’s not his fault I’ve been ruined by the duet style that is done in Butcher & Blackbird, but I’m so terribly ruined.

This story was excellent…up until the last four or so chapters. Those final chapters were rushed. Almost as if Simone could see the finish line but took a shortcut instead of staying on course. If you’re wanting plenty of spice mixed with some taboo this book doesn’t slow burn. What it has is the rush of a diver walking to the end of a springboard, that dramatic pause in the air, and then it takes a swan dive right into it. I would say there isn’t any splash-back but…it’s only the good kind.

Holy HOT!

This book was way more than I was expecting. The story was exciting and bold without being too angry. The troubles were few, considering the subject matter, and I always appreciate that in a romance novel.
And most importantly the ending was believable. Their HEA was earned and I appreciate that so much!

Both narrators did a fantastic job, well done them!

Absolutely worth a credit, or heck I'd say it's worth an actual purchase!

Better than I thought it would be.

I loved this book. I didn't think I would it was sitting in my TBR list for a bit. I finally listened to it and oh my gosh it was so much better than I expected. I have always wondered about priests (that aren't pedos) and how they keep love at a distance. this is good and sexy and seems so true to life. -Dink

Talk about steamy!

I enjoyed this way more than expected. Definitely a sizzling romance. I didn't think the ending was perfect, felt like it was missing something. Jacob Morgan is amazing though!
