Publisher's summary

"Wild, wicked, and wonderfully imaginative!" (Sylvia Day, New York Times best-selling author)

The Demonica series returns....

Warrior of Heaven... Reaver is an angel with a past, a record, and a less-than-heavenly attitude. Powerful enough to fight alongside the fiercest battle angels - and crazy enough to risk his wings on a one-way mission to hell - he's agreed to go where no angel has ever gone before…to steal the most seductive and dangerous prize of Satan himself….

Angel of Hell… Harvester is one of the Fallen, a once-heroic angel who sacrificed her wings to work as an undercover agent in hell. But now her cover has been blown, and she's doomed to an eternity of agonizing torture. Even if Reaver can snatch her away from Satan's lair, even if they can fight their way out of the underworld's darkest depths, there is one thing Harvester can never escape - her newfound thirst for an angel's blood….

MAYBE THE BEST IN THE SERIES

Larissa Ione has once again delivered yet another fantastical journey into the Demonica realm and filled it with a generous portion of interesting, loveable, evil and manipulative cast and crew. But the main love story was simply awesome.... as well as complicated, passionate, heartbreaking, sexy and beautiful. Thrills, suspense, surprises, revelations and shock lurk in every chapter and her world-building skills are off the charts as tensions build because there's war looming between Heaven and Hell.

Containing many of the loveable characters from past books and some new ones makes this a series where you really should start from book 1 and work your way up if you want to get the most out of this listen.

Worth a credit? Addictive, compelling, enjoyable and riveting..... so that would be both a HELL YES and a HEAVENLY YES.

What happened here?

What did you love best about Reaver?

The secrets that were revealed were amazing and exciting.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Accents changed from the previous books, characters sounded cartoonish and bad asses sounded weak. I like the narrator, but this series is not for her. I will still listen to other novels by her.

Larissa rocks on...

Would you listen to Reaver again? Why?

Reaver was excellent, just a pleasure to listen to. It kept up a good pace-- the plot turns and pace of character discovery was believable. Reaver and Harvester were complex and their chemistry was spot on. Larissa never get too deep into the sex scenes but its enough to keep your blood warm & a smile on your face. The ending was seriously a shocker to me, i didn't see it coming...and kept wondering how she was going to resolve it. There was one chapter at the end that "explained it all" (you'll know) and the only criticism i can give is maybe some of that reveal information could have been sprinkled into the book along the way-- but it certainly doesn't diminish the book. Its hard to be a writer-- and kudos to Ione who keeps delivering! Cant wait to read about Reavers brother....that will be fantastic.

What about Helen Wick’s performance did you like?

Performance was smooth-- Wick's voices and characters were believable and it was a easy listen. Her voice is in that middle range where its not too male deep and not too female high-- just the perfect pitch for listening pleasure. The only jarring character was Eidolon -- i just couldn't buy him as a character when she read him-- he seemed kinda lame--- which we know he is far from.

GREAT STORY! NARRATOR SO SO!

Would you listen to Reaver again? Why?

ALREADY DID. BECAUSE REAVER'S THE MAN! I MEAN ANGEL!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Reaver?

SO MANY, REAVER ENJOYING THE FACT THAT HE WAS A FATHER AND A GRANDFATHER. LOSNG HIS WINGS AGAIN, RELIVING HIS PAST WITH HARVESTER, FALLING IN LOVE WITH HARVESTER AGAIN, SAVING THE WHARG INFANT, BEING THERE FOR LIMOS WHEN SHE LOST HER BABY, BRINGING HER BABY BACK TO HER. I COULD GO ON AND ON! REAVER'S JUST MY KINDA GUY!

Have you listened to any of Helen Wick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I DON'T THINK SO.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I ALMOST DID BUT I FELL ASLEEP AT SOME POINT IDR.

Any additional comments?

NO OFFENSE BUT THE NARRATOR NEEDS TO WORK ON HER MALE VOICES. WHAT SHE DID TO THESE THREE BADASSES WAS AN ABOMINATION. ARES SOUNDED LIKE DRACULA, EIDOLON SOUNDED LIKE A FEMALE CARTOON CHARACTER AND REVENANT SOUNDED LIKE SOME YOKEM FROM A OLD WESTERN MOVIE.

What An Angel!

I always anticipate the next Larissa Ione release, but Reaver's story was special. His character was introduced way back, and I've been waiting what seems like forever to hear his story. I was not disappointed.

I already knew his heroine would be Harvester, and I wasn't really sure how the author was going to pull that off and make me sympathetic toward Harvester as a heroine. I mean really, the chick has done some pretty horrible things in the past few books. Larissa Ione pulls it off with flair.

I will say that I don't think any of the Demonica stories stand well alone. They are a series, one book building on another, and the world building is such that it can be rather confusing keeping up with everything if you don't have the foundation from the previous books to build on. I highly suggest the PNR fan go back and start at the beginning.

This book has all the elements. The world building is first class, the characters are fleshed out, the romance is both painful and exhilarating and the plot is edge of your seat action. Reaver is a heavenly angel without a past, an angel whose lived thousands of years but who can only remember the past 40 years or so. His existence before then is a mystery, to himself as well as to most other angels and immortals. Harvester has endured endless centuries in hell as a fallen angel, while in reality, she was a spy for "team good". Even though they have been enemies for years, Reaver goes to rescue Harvester when the archangels, fearing a war with Satan, refuse to retrieve her from hell after her cover is blown. He's a man without a past, but does he have a future with Harvester? Well, you'll just have to read the book, won't you?

So we have a awesome story, but the narration was not up to the level I expected for this book. Helen Wick did fine when narrating the story, but she ran into trouble when narrating the male voices. Her voice for Reaver was fine, but with the secondary male characters we've came to know from previous books, she completely drops the ball. She makes these tough immortal men, most of them demons, sound very feminine, and occasionally she gets the voices she has created for the characters mixed up. It was distracting and a bit irritating, since I have come to love these strong alpha males and didn't much appreciate the less than macho tones she gave them. However, since she did a fair job with Reaver and Harvester, I didn't find this problem as distracting as I would have if she'd gotten the main characters "all wrong". Still, I can't rejoice over her performance. I see she has only narrated a few books on audible, and I see potential, but she does desperately need to work on her male voices and her consistency with characters. I hope she takes constructive criticism to heart, because she's a good storyteller, and I see enormous potential if she works on that crucial weak point in the future.

Worth a credit? Absolutely.

Love the Story! Narrator not so much....

Would you listen to Reaver again? Why?

Yes! I suspect I may have missed a few things when I was interrupted by a family member. I don't want to miss anything.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Reaver?

It would be a spoiler.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Helen Wick?

Hillary Huber
I'm sure Helen Wick is very talented. This just wasn't the right project for her. Of course this is just my opinion.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were moments when I did both.

Any additional comments?

I had problems listening even though this was one of my favorite books in the series. The narration was really distracting. The addition of accents drove me nuts. It made me really question whether I wanted to read or listen to Revenant. When I saw it was Hillary Huber I was relieved.

Loved the narrator!!

Narrator’s got such a versatile voice. Love it! I’ve listened to this book so many times I’ve lost count. Obviously the narrator’s for Larissa Ione’s book don’t check previous books written by her to get the vibe of the characters. I didn’t like Eidolon’s voice (sounded too nerdy) but I’m guessing she did what she could with what she was given. Love her evil Gethel voice and all other character voices. Book’s got lots of action, smut, and twists. Will continue to listen to it again 👍🏼

Holy WOW!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Aaah... Hell yeah!!! And this is why...WOW!!! That's what I have to say about this book. If fans of L. Ione Riders series even believed for one minute this was the end of a saga. Well you're wrong. Not did our dearly beloved naughty angel kick ass he blew the top off a whole lot can worms/cobras… Only those who have already read will get my meaning. LOL!! Well, as usual I will start with the writing/audio translation of the book. Yes, I cheated and couldn’t sneak in the time to actually read the entire book. So, I purchased the audio version from my favorite audiobook website ;-) I must first comment on how great this book was translated into audio. Helen Wick did an amazing voice acting in projecting the various characters (and I mean a lot of them) without confusing the voices, accents and attitudes. She has moved to the top favorite of my voice actors list. Jim F. you’re still my hero. But, wow H. Wick did an amazing job. L. Ione should be quite pleased with the results. Well back to our favorite naughty angels Reaver and Harvester (“R&H”). As usual don’t expect any real reveals in my review because you need to read the book to find out what happens. Our two star-crossed lovers are truly that. Their history dates back when and then some. Because free will and all that business both of them had made their fair share of mistakes (some more than others) and the interferences by others R&H had to first come to terms with their discoveries before moving forward. These issues and only bit more are issues they dealt with throughout the book. Ending with a satisfactory conclusion, which if translated into a real life relationship would be something two individuals who realized their love was greater than the issues could overcome. Then we have the BIG reveal about Reaver’s history that really just blew my top off. Now, I won’t kid you and say I hadn’t figured his history was going to be a game changer… because I wouldn’t. I knew from the beginning that someone like him had to have a huge secret buried deep. Now that it’s all out… well let’s just say L. Ione will be one busy author for the next couple years. If by now you haven’t been moved to read the book yet, well get your lazy bottoms moving. You need to check it out. The timing and flow of the story was just perfect. It will keep the reader on the edge of their seats until they're almost ready to either skip to later chapters or as in my case fast forward to the “good parts”. Don’t do it!!! The intensity will be lost and you will miss the opportunity to enjoy a well written book. The long wait was well worth it. Definite must read book before the end of 2013.

needs a different narrator

I love the stories but wish they'd quit changing narrators for the series some of the voices make the characters sound a little ridiculous
