Rook and Ronin Omnibus contains the books Tragic, Manic, and Panic and features a runaway girl who falls into a million-dollar dream of cherry trees and rooftop swings. A bad boy with a sketchy history of breaking pretty girls. And a job called Tragic that might ruin everything.
Tragic
She’s on the run from a horrible past.
He’s got an offer of a lifetime.
Ronin
Rook Walsh appeared out of nowhere like a dark angel sent to steal my soul. And I could just tell that she was broken, and beaten, and scared.
So I made her an offer of a lifetime. She needed a job and I needed a certain "type" of girl for a modeling contract worth millions of dollars called Tragic.
I was warned to keep my hands to myself.
I was warned not to get involved.
I was warned not to ruin her.
(The way I ruined the last one.)
But I don’t take orders - I give them.
Rook
Ronin Flynn appeared out of nowhere like a bright light in my heavy darkness. And when he offered me a job, and money, and a fantasy rooftop apartment, I wanted to believe that he was good, and fair, and honest.
But I’d been tricked by a pretty face before.
I’d fallen for the knight once - and lost everything.
This was my chance to start over.
This was my chance to escape and be free.
And this was my chance to do it all by myself.
I don’t need a knight.
I don’t want to be saved.
But sometimes you find yourself trapped inside the fairy tale, and no matter how hard you try, nothing you do can stop the train wreck coming.

This book had me hating Rook, I think it was all that internal dialogue that I’ve come to hate from female protagonists lately (I hate even saying it) it’s just that it’s so freakin weak, fake and doesn’t make any sense whatsoever! I would have understood Rook’s behavior sooooooooo much more had she come from some wealthy family and was abducted by John and to find out she doesn’t have any fortune left or something. Buuuut c’moooooon someone broken from age 5 can’t appreciate kindness? I get it from men but talking shit with Elise? Yelling at her? Essentially biting the hand that feeds her? Then she’s ready to share things with Ronan’s friends, men she doesn’t know well but wouldn’t share with the man who showed her nothing but kindness? 🙄🙄I don’t know man... this put me off majorly! She basaaarely redeemed herself in the end there, barely.
I continued reading because Rook, Spencer and even Ford characters were flawlessly established and I just didn’t see why they were drawn to her, her essence maybe? That was then annoying, no one put her in her place properly...
All in all it was a good trilogy (the only JA Huss books I forwarded some of characters parts, Rook’s 🙄) I can’t wait to starts Spencer and Ford’s stories... I hope Ronnie is an actual bad ass and Ford gets with a normal understanding woman and there’s a lot more steamy parts... I don’t know if there’s Elise and Antwan’s story... would love to hear how Ms. Huss mind works over there too...
Performance: Jason Clarke NEVER EVER disappoints... Erin Mallon sounds so much like Ms. Huss I kept checking to see if they were tag teaming... so I loved her too...
So sad there was no end of the book shit, was it because trilogy? I absolutely love those too...
All in all, it really wasn’t a waste of credit especially for what you get, book 1 is a definite cliffhanger so glad for all of them... However, I wanted to know just a little bit more than where the book ended...
Love hate then love
