About this listen

Sheriff Archer Tobias has watched the Callahan family struggle to find peace and acceptance in the community - despite the murders that continue to haunt them. But his darkest suspicions grow worse when Anna Corbin, a member of one of the country's most influential families, becomes the next target….

Anna knows she's in danger. She knows she's on a trail of secrets and lies that could lead to a dead end. But no matter what, she's determined to learn the identity of the killer—even if it's someone she loves….

Torn between duty and desire, Sheriff Tobias cannot allow Anna to put herself in the path of a deranged murderer. But as the investigation pulls them closer together - and deeper into the nightmare - he realizes that he cannot save her from this legacy of blood and vengeance - without putting his own life on the line.

I love most of Lora Leigh books but this one was way to out there in the sex. Don't get me wrong I like the wild parts but this one was just too much. And the plot was to hard to understand. I did listen to the whole book. I had to fast forward through some of the sex senses as it as a bit over the top. I think this needs to have a little more romance and use better words. It works in some of her books but this one just was a bit much. I will listen to the next one if there is one.

I love her books But this one not so much

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I've been critical of this series...it was one of my first delves into this genre. It was o.k. but after reading a lot more since it is disappointing.

There IS a story here that COULD have been intense and edgy. However, I'm not sure if it was the writing, poor editing or a combination-there was too little or too confusing a storyline.

Repetition, repetition, repetition...in all 3 of the Sins Series the listener/reader is reminded every few paragraphs (I am not exaggerating) who the main characters are and what circumstances led them to this point.

This could have been edited into a straightforward, clear, edgy and enjoyable 2 book series. I was glad to FINALLY find out who the instigator was and understand [sort of] why it was done.

What about Clarissa Knightly’s performance did you like?

Clarissa Knightly is a talented reader/narrator. I've listened to many of her performances and her delivery is always good. She kept me more interested than the first two books.

Was Secret Sins worth the listening time?

Yes and no. Yes, because after investing the time into the first two parts in the series it was good to wind up and close the series.

If you haven't started the series then I would say no, it is not worth the listening time.

Any additional comments?

This series is o.k. - not something I'd recommend as there are a lot of other great books in this genre - INCLUDING Lora Leigh's Elite Ops series and am going to try her Tempting SEALs series soon.

Strong language and descriptions of sex.

Series is Finally Over &I am Happy-That's Not Good

I don't know whether you are like me, some books just don't hold my attention or interest, and I find myself flipping to another book then back two or three times trying to get into the story - well this book unfortunately was like that.

I can't put my finger on exactly what was wrong, was it the characters, the plot or the sex? that let this book down or perhaps all three things but it failed to capture my interest. But whatever it was I'm afraid I didn't enjoy this listen as much as I did with the two previous books in the series.

Worth a credit? Sorry it's going to have to be a No and my apologies for not giving other members precise reasons as to why but I just don't have any.

UNFORTUNATELY NOT ONE OF HER BEST

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Well I thnk I would of enjoyed it much better if Anna wasn't so "down" on herself. Constantly feeling unwanted does wear on the nerves. I mean get some spunk and if she feels that way then quit being a rugmat. She should of left Archer and moved in with her friends/cousins until he gave her what she needed other than sex. Maybe it would of been more exciting to of kept her apart from Archer, spice up the danger to her life with him trying to win her and playing up hot passionate sex. Just a thought.

Was Secret Sins worth the listening time?

It's just a average listen for me. Even the sexual stuff is just ok. I'd rather listened to something else. I was glad when this was over.

Any additional comments?

I'd spend my credit on something else. This one just didn't make it. I couldn't connect.

I Tried!

I have read more than twenty of Lora Leigh's novels and have rarely but disappointed which is why this book is such a letdown. I couldn't sympathize with the characters and felt as if I had heard it all before.

Disappointing

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The leading lady for me was extremely annoying. She was not believable . I was so irritated and was tempted to fast forward when the character on what I call tangents.

What was most disappointing about Lora Leigh’s story?

I typically really like Lora's stories, this one was just ok for me. The story line was kinda weak not a lot of depth.

Did Clarissa Knightly do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

She differentiated the characters.

Could you see Secret Sins being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No.

Any additional comments?

I felt compelled to write a review for this book due to how annoying the leading female character was.

Ok

I almost didn’t buy this one, thinking I was only interested in the 3 cousins. This book was so erotically hot, omg, and revealed so many secrets that I think you’d be lost without this one. It’s one you can’t miss.

So hot and so many secrets revealed

Love her stories. Not hard to follow, love the narrator, perfect in the reading.

EXCEPTIONAL

This is the third instalment of what looks to be four books and was proceeded by Midnight Sins and Deadly Sins. You really need to be listening to them in order, otherwise I suspect the story line here would be very confusing. Secret Sins follows Sherriff Archer Tobias and his relationship with Anna Corbin and the ongoing murders that are plaguing the county in which they live.

I had enjoyed the first two books, and was looking forward to this one but it was somewhat disappointing as there was very little plot and a whole lot of sex. Lora Leigh is the Queen of bedroom scenes (imo), but this book got repetitive really fast - in fact I'm sure she did repeat some of the scenes word for word! Clare Claremont was very good in her narration, but overall I was disappointed at the lack of plot. I'll still be looking out for the fourth book in the series when it is available and hopefully there will be more of the actual story in that one!

More Sex Than Story
