Publisher's summary

Edward has never met anyone quite like Mason.

Mason isn't looking for Mr. Right...he isn't even looking for Mr. Right-Now. What he wants in a man isn't going to be found on a blind date or at a singles mixer. Because he's looking for someone a little more unique...a little more take charge...a little more loving.

Edward is straightforward, logical, and thinks of himself as traditional...not vanilla, just traditional. When he meets Mason, sparks fly. When whispered confessions reveal secret desires, will Edward embrace Mason's needs or will his secret prove to be too much?

Story contains M/M sexual content, age play, diapers, and ABDL themes.

Great Audio

What does Kenneth Obi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This is my first audio from Kenneth Obi. I enjoyed the way he made the formal speech of William / Daddy more pronounced than I felt it when I read the book. It gave a different dimension to William that I'd not fully appreciated through reading.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this audio. I found the small issue I had with the book did not translate over to the audio. I loved how is started. The meeting of Mason & Edward was original & entertaining. Mason whispers to Edward that he's looking for a daddy & Edward is shocked but intrigued. He does a little research & decides it's something he wants to explore with Mason.

I loved the inexperience of both men. Mason knows what he wants but is cautious to voice too much to Edward for fear for scaring him away. They are both nervous but eager to go forward. I loved how they had some awkward beginnings. I made their relationship seem more real to me. Both of them struggling with what it too much or not enough. I enjoyed the journey of them learning to trust each other & of them both finding themselves in each other as they built something beautiful together. It felt honest & I was able to feel the connection between these men.

Together they were romantic, super hot & sweet. It's a great story with excellent character growth.

* I received an ARC from the author.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes
What did I like? story has a good pace, characters are engaging and the Age play is well written. I enjoyed the development of the relationship and the emotional connection the characters developed.
Was there anything that didn't work for me? Nope - all good.

MA Innes has a wonderful skill of gradually bringing the reader into which-ever particular "kink" the story features, it's subtle and respectful and not shoved in your face.

Narrator comment: Kenneth Obi did a great narration on "Secrets in the Dark". Each character is voiced clearly and distinctly and their personalities shine though. The emotions and intonations are all there and it was a thoroughly enjoyable audio experience.

Great Age Play Romance

Would you consider the audio edition of Secrets in the Dark to be better than the print version?

I liked the print version better. The reader tried to make the "little" character sound like a young child even when he was supposed to be in "adult" role.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Edward. He took his role as Daddy very seriously. Researched all aspects of the dynamic of age play. He even went as far as to consult an expert in age play.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed the chastity scene the best.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to this book while working around the house over a 2 day period.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the book but the reader left little to be desired. I will listen to it again because the story was one of my favorites. I would recommend this book to anyone who was interested in the age play genre.

A Great Age Play Listen

Would you consider the audio edition of Secrets in the Dark to be better than the print version?

Please bear with me - I didn't choose these questions. My actual review is at the end, so please keep reading.

Is the audio edition better than the print version. I have no idea since I don't have the print version. Since I only buy and listen to audiobooks, I guess this is an automatic yes.

What other book might you compare Secrets in the Dark to and why?

This is my first age play, so, uh, I have no idea.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene in the restaurant when Edward and Mason first meet.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Their first date as Daddy/boy.

Any additional comments?

Here is the review I prepared:

Your Kink is not my Kink (YKINMK).

If you keep that in mind, this is a fun book about age play.

I love the slow burn between the two main characters. They accidentally meet at a singles’ mixer but they connect. Mason feels safe enough to admit he’s looking for a Daddy, assuming he will never see Edward again.

Edward has other ideas, though. He tracks Mason down and expresses interest.
Both are men who are lonely. One is looking for someone to take care of him and one is looking forward to caring for someone in a deep and intimate way.

What I love about this book is the amount of thought that goes into this relationship. Edward consults with a professional; Mason has his best friend who is there as a sounding board. Anyone in BDSM should have someone safe to share with.

Then there are the negotiations. Again, often that step is missing in relationships in books. It could have been dry and boring, but Innes did a great job of making the discussions funny and endearing. These are two lost souls finding each other.

Some readers may get squicky at the extent of the age play – it goes all the way – but the relationship between these two men, to me, supersedes anything questionable. These are consenting adults.

Kenneth Obi did a great job as narrator – voices were well differentiated and the book was well done.

I enjoyed it. Not my kink, but a sweet read.

Educating

Author introduced a life style that I don’t think is well know and gave the reader an in-site to some of the roles one could play and how one could live this type of life style I found it interesting and not off putting

Interesting

I would have liked the story much better if it would have had a lot less inner dialogue.

4.5 stars ⭐️

I love all of M.A. Innes's work, but Kenneth Obi is new to me. Loved the life he brought to Edward and Mason. I liked that the voices were different but flowed naturally.
Will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of his narration and hopefully M.A. Innes has more in audio soon as well!

Whispered Secrets

I actually listened to the audio version. I love the way this story starts off. The almost defiant way Nathan announces his needs. What was amazing was the lengths that Edward went to so that he was prepared to meet Nathan's needs. He seemed to really want to do his best to cause no harm. I love where this story ends up and I think it would be fun to have sequel where we get to seem them move forward in a day to day life.

Not for everyone

I wasn't able to finish this one. The plot is solid and the writing is good, but the subject matter isn't for everyone. The age play aspect of this couple has one man wearing diapers, eating off kiddie plates, sucking on a binkie, and taking a bottle at night.

I enjoy Daddy/Boy stories, but the baby stuff was too much for me.
