About this listen

One conference, two friends, and two men who know how to take care of business...

After leaving the wrong man, Leah Griffin's not ready to look for the right one. All she wants is to survive the conference she's planning and spend some time with her best friend, Kate Edwards. She's not expecting the conference services manager to be so tall, dark and handsome...or so eager to please. It's Brandon Long's job to make Leah happy, but after a scorching interlude in her hotel room, neither can deny business has become pleasure.

Smart, driven, and successful attorney Katherine Edwards has spent her life doing the right thing but Charles Dixon is a bad choice she can't help but make - over and over. A conference and a promotion bring Kate back to Pennsylvania and suddenly Dix wants far more than a few nights in random hotel rooms. He wants something permanent and Katherine has to figure out if sometimes a wrong choice isn't exactly what a woman needs.

Characters seemed much younger

Leah and Kate, best friends and educated professionals, are spending several days at a conference. Kate has a secret older boyfriend Dix and Leah just dumped lover & meets hunky younger Brandon. The writing was good, but I found the characters (except Brandon) acted too immature and self absorbed for their ages. Sex in a parking lot...ogling the opposite sex like teens...not having enough confidence in their abilities. While containing some amusing and interesting scenes, this book was missing something.

Hm... not too bad...

This is about two relationships - Kate & Dix and Leah & Brandon. The former is a 'normal' romantic-sexual relationship and the latter is about the development of a Dom-Sub sexual-romantic relationship, where Leah is the dom. Not sure how I felt about this arrangement. Brandon is quite a nice guy and I feel a bit sorry for him. Lots of sex scenes... the story seems like a bit of an adjunct to the sex. Not that I usually mind this but maybe this was emphasised because I'm not really into DS, even when the male is dom. Scully's narration is okay... sometimes not a lot of differentiation between character's voices, so you have to listen closely to work out who's said what. Somehow there's something contrived about this novel... possibly because the two authors overworked it in an attempt to get it just right. Maybe others will like it more than I did.

Taking Care of Buisiness Is Hot and Wild!

If you could sum up Taking Care of Business in three words, what would they be?

Raunchy, Emotional & Hot

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The book was very light on a plot which is exactly how I think the authors meant to write it. There are a couple main story lines but they are not deep or difficult-again, I think the author's delivered exactly what they intended.

One conference, two friends, and two men who know how to take care of business...

He wants something permanent and Katherine has to figure out if sometimes a wrong choice isn't exactly what a woman needs.

Which scene was your favorite?

No spoilers from me, so very little detail: I enjoyed Kate trying to express and sort out to Dix his responsibilities to his kids, ex-wive and her.

There were also MANY intense, intimate scenes too!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, it took me two evenings though.

Any additional comments?

NOTE: STRONG LANGUAGE and MATURE scenes

Horrible Narrator Bad story

Any additional comments?

I was expecting a lot more out of this book but it was so bad. Megan Hart and Lauren Dane wrote a very poor story indeed. The narrator Vivienne Scully was terrible. No voice changes for different characters and such a sickly sweet voice that i just gave up listening. She way over tried to sound sexy that her voice ended up sounding creepy instead.. The whole book was just horrible. Never again. :(
