About this listen

Ever heard of a virgin romance author?

Now you have. Spoiler alert: it’s as sad as it sounds.

My roommate thinks I should do some research to help my writer’s block.

When a billionaire publishing executive rejects my book, she has the perfect idea.

The perfectly terrible idea of tricking him into bidding on me through a BDSM site.

I know how it sounds. Crazy. Stupid. Irresponsible. Check, check, check. I couldn’t agree more.

Yes, he’s practically dripping with sex appeal. Yes, any woman with a pulse would kill for a “hello” from him. And yes, he looks like he belongs on a movie screen.

But as far as I’m concerned, he’s just the jerk who rejected my book, and all I care about is getting a chance to tell him off in person. That’s it. Mostly.

Then again, maybe my roommate has a point. A night with him would probably give me enough material to fill half a book.

He wants more than a night, though. He wants a month. And he wants me to sign a contract saying I’m completely and totally his.

I can sign the contract and basically become the heroine from one of my books, or I can say no and keep on living my normal, boring life. Hmm, tough call...

**This is a full-length, standalone billionaire BDSM romance. No cheating or cliffhangers, and as always, Happily Ever After guaranteed.

Fun, but truly a fantastical story

The overall plot had promise but the heroine seemed too caught up in her ‘circumstance’ to me. Her writer’s block could have been caused by simply a sheltered life. Also, the narrators, while they did a good job, were perhaps not the best choice for these characters. I could imagine them doing other books I’ve read and would enjoyed them better elsewhere. I always enjoy reading Penelope Bloom. I suspect I should have read this one instead of listening.

Unrealistic

So I'm all for a light hearted dom/sub romance story. Some of them can get a bit dark, but i had a hard time finishing this one. One of my favorite male voices was narrating this book and it still made me stop a few times because of the story line. I can overlook that the leading Male character is merely a publisher with the fighting skills of a Navy seal and that he has a convert friend in Hunter. But I yelled at my phone when he offered the guys who has been trying to kill him the entire book 100 million dollars a year for the rest of his life if he leaves the leading female alone. The f**k! And let's not forget Mia the weird dorm RA. How do you sneak into someone room while they are alsleep, spend over 10 minutes breaking into their laptop (not including time searching on it), have a conversation with the person that broke into the room with you and not get caught until you break the laptop. And the ridiculous fight scene. Everything just seemed underdeveloped. I love a good story and this had potential but it fell short.

I’m extremely conflicted about this story

My first Bloom book, I will give her one more try. First the narration was atrocious for the most part. The female’s voice by both narrators was so high pitch, prissy & at times screechy I wanted to stop listening in the first few minutes, it really never improved-2 stars. I almost never give up on a book so I continued. The main story between the two main characters was extremely well written, highly sexually and very entertaining,a little humorous, even the parts with the secondary characters. If that was the story I would give it 5 stars, however, the part of the mobsters appeared thrown in to try to give it some suspense & it totally failed. It was all unrealistic even the money amount, that part of the story 2 stars. Overall it’s not one I’d ever listen too again, if it was part of the Escape package I’d say go far it, not sure I can say it’s worth a credit. It’s such a shame because parts was very worth it.

Nice effort, though culturally insensitive

This was a good attempt at bdsm. I was skeptical at first because I've had some weak books, but the way bdsm was portrayed was pretty enjoyable. I think it took 3/5 of the book to get to that point so I was getting really impatient, and the villains were from the DR but the accent used was EXTREMELY Mexican, and as a Caribbean-Latinx, I couldn't help feeling some kind of way at the horrible accents as well as always referring to random people as "The Dominican/The Dominicans even saying Dominican when referring to the country it's called Dominican Republic. There are two countries with Dominican as a demonym so that's confusing when you know that so I cringed every time the mistake was made.

I dont normally like suspenseful books but the bdsm and love scenes made it readable to the end.

Horrible Narration by Alexander Cendese

I listened up to Chapter #9 and could not go on any further. Alexander Cendese's performance totally turned me off. His characterization of a female were high pitch and annoying, the main character sounded like a complete moron. I just could not listen anymore. ON the flip side Teri Clark Linden's performance was awesome. She is one of my favorite narrators. Her performance is what kept me listening so long. Just allow Ms. Linden to perform the entire book. Her male narrations are way better than m. Cendese.

Horrible

I’m sorry but this book is so bad. The female narrator sounds like a 40-something trying to sound like. 20-something. The male doing the female voice is comical. The story is so unrealistic, predictable, and boring. I skipped quite a few chapters. Found myself laughing at how bad it is. I’ve read some of this authors other books and they’re good. This one is just not it.

DNF - unrealistic

I don’t DNF many audio books and I usually try to power through in case they get better, but I just had to stop on this one. The narrators weren’t a problem for me, it was the story itself. I only made it to chapter 7 and didn’t even get to any of the spicy parts. The male character was more interested in finding out more about his “mystery” lady than the fact that his life was being threatened. The girl’s roommate way oversteps boundaries, and in the real world would have put her friend in some real danger. Yes, that is how she meets her forever love (I’m assuming) by the roommates meddling, but it just went too far for me. You don’t give out where you live, to a guy you don’t know, without your roommates approval and shrug and say it’s because you want your friend to finally get laid and the guy is hot. That was the final straw for me. I know all romance books have some level of fantasy, but it just became too unrealistic for me to want to continue.

Horrible

I usually love Penelope's books but this one is not a favorite. The female narrator was awful and her voice sounded very whiny. Hopefully this the only bad egg in the bunch.
