About this listen

A galaxy in flames.

Devastated early in the war, the United Systems Alliance has retaken several key systems lost to the Galactic Union. But getting even isn’t good enough for General Hella. Determined to end the costly war and destroy the Union, Hella launches a daring offensive against the planet Kuut, a key military base deep in Union space.

At the tip of the spear, Lieutenant Mark Rizer and the Marines of Orcus Company find themselves in the mud and blood of a planetary ground invasion. Despite the usual chaos and snafus, the Marines seem to be winning—until they receive the order to evacuate.

Drawn into a trap, Hella must risk his invasion force and his career to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. He redeploys the Marines and sailors of Sixth Fleet on a suicidal mission, one that will test Rizer’s mettle and leadership to the extreme. Fighting a desperate battle in close quarters at zero-g against a cunning and ruthless enemy, Rizer and his Marines quickly realize they’ve been thrown into a meat grinder.

Fortune may favor the brave, but this is going to hurt.

Love the combat!

I love how this series gives you a 30,000 feet view of the overall events from the perspective of the military and political leaders while spending the majority is spent in trenches and focused on a specific marine. The secondary characters are entertaining in their own right, but Mr Aslesan doesn’t overdue it. Some military sci-fi can spend too much time talking about “fleet maneuvers”, ship details, or even and logistics while only slow things down. Mr Aslesan gives you just enough to make you want more. Its also one of the better books that visualize combat. It’s difficult to explain flanking manuevers and picture a battlefield in a story, but I feel emerged whe. Listening; like I’ve hitched a ride on their armor. I only wish I didn’t have to wait so long for the next book. This is also my first experience with Roger Wayne and he nailed it!

Different than the previous books.

Let me first say I love this series. I couldn’t wait until this book came out on audio.
This book like the others does have some unnecessary sexual content. Not like the first book but it’s there.
Some of your favorite characters from previous books may not survive this one. Just be forewarned.
Is this book worthy of sitting on the shelf with war whore and the other books with LT Rizer? Yup! Is it the best one yet? No. It didn’t grab me and have me emotionally scarred like the other books. :-) Do I like the way the series may be going due to what we hear in the last 30 mins of the book? Not really. Hopefully it doesn’t overtake the basic premise of the books.
Thank you Ryan. Please continue to share your work with us. I for one love it.

Amazing!!!!

I love the Wars Edge series and all the stand aliens. Ryan W Aslesen has made an amazing universe with awesome characters and even great battle scenes. Roger Wayne brings these books to like and gives emotion to the characters making the stories even more amazing.

Great series

I love the wars edge series as well as the other stand alone novels. This author has come on the scene fairly recently and has done a outstanding job with his story telling.

Book 3 makes the same mistake book 2 made

The story is becoming less and less about Rizer by the minute, and more about Hellers nonsense along with a very weird twist at the end. I miss the first book where we got rizers off time, seeing him form bonds and strengthen them off of the field and him contemplating his choices or just having a good time with his buddies while their still alive and kicking. Now we're just going through his battles and a slight snippet of what's going on in his head and its just very disappointing since he was a great character with a lot more depth. At least the narrator is good like always.

The Author must have skipped the literature class

The setup from the first book was ok, the story of the second one was ok-ish. This book sounds like the author got paid for writing the words sh*t and goons into the book, because you cannot avoid to realize it is in every paragraph a dozen time. The author probably missed the literature class in elementary school where it was explained to use synonyms when writing a story. Good for a drinking game, but I don't really think I'll be getting any more books from this universe, because the story is slow and boring and the writing style is getting under my skin.

Hella is jerk

Hella doesn't care how many of his people die as long as he wins and they die easily I think they bought their armor from Star Wars stormtrooper!
