About this listen

The Ultimate Guide to Sex and Disability is the first complete sex guide for people who live with disabilities, pain, illness, or chronic conditions. Useful for absolutely everyone, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation, the book addresses a wide range of disabilities - from chronic fatigue, back pain, and asthma to spinal cord injury, hearing and visual impairment, multiple sclerosis, and more.

Expertly written by a medical doctor, a sex educator, and a disability activist, The Ultimate Guide provides listeners with encouragement, support, and all the information they need to create a sex life that works for them. The authors cover all aspects of sex and disability, including building a positive sexual self-image; positions to minimize stress and maximize pleasure; dealing with fatigue or pain during sex; finding partners and talking with them about sex and disability; adapting sex toys; and more.

a good place to start

I enjoyed it but at times the content was repetitive. Additionally, the performance was a bit subdue for what I would consider an exciting topic.

What (Almost) Nobody Wants to Tell You

It hadn't occurred to me before I read this book, but part of why people with disabilities are overlooked as potential sexual partners has to do with a stereotype that disabled people are children. So that's why stranger apologize to me when they swear.in my presence! I thought I was mistaken for a nun.

If you have a significant disability, chances are that you've had a lot of rejection and awkward situations. This book helps restore your self image and figure out your own definition of sexuality and intimacy. There is also a lot of technical and safety information for all tastes and limitations.

The reason I am not giving this book five stars is that the sex is not discussed in the context of finding and developing a relationship. The BBC series "Undateable" shows just how hard it can be to get a date, let alone a good date. . This book can result in being all dressed up with no place to go.

Just what I needed.

I have a partner with chronic pain. This book is the first hope ive seen that can help us save our relationship. Being a partner to someone disabled or abused is trying at times and you owe it to them and yourself to do the research and be able to understand as much as possible to either help them or walk away knowing you can't. Thank you so much for this book!

Great book must read for anyone with a disability

I heard about this book a few years ago but I wasn’t able to read it or listen to it before now. I absolutely love it and made me feel like I was in alone. And I was happy to know that I wasn’t the only person with a disability that was interested in having sex that were other people like me that are interested in having sex and being sexual.
