Publisher's summary

This two-book bundle contains both standalone, full-length follow-up stories to The Villain Duology, The Butterfly and The Damsel.

The Butterfly

From the moment Niall Gibbs lays eyes on Lady Olivia Goodall, he is entranced. Even as a young boy, her fragile beauty calls to something deep inside him, making it difficult to stay away from her. And stay away, he should, since she happens to be the daughter of his master: an earl who would not take kindly to the attentions of a stable groom.

When Olivia goes off to London for her first Season, Niall doesn’t think to ever see her again. However, she returns a year later, ruined with a newborn babe in her arms, and a mind riddled by torment. Following a brutal assault and months spent languishing in an unwed mothers’ asylum, she finds herself plunged into an existence of pain, darkness, and regret. Niall would give anything to bring her back into the light, including descend into the darkness along with her.

The Damsel

After losing the love of his life to another man, Robert Stanley stumbles into a public house looking to drown his sorrows. When Lady Cassandra Lane offers him one night in an upstairs room with her, he leaps at the chance despite her stipulation that he submit to her every whim. He wants nothing more than to lose himself and forget his pain; allowing someone else control seems a small price to pay for it.

After her brutal assault at the hands of a lord, Cassandra’s had her name and reputation dragged through the mud. Her family and friends have turned their back on her, and she’s become a social outcast. Deciding to take control of her circumstances, she sets out to find a man with whom she can overcome her anxiety over physical intimacy. Robert Stanley seems like an ideal choice — someone she can use for her own ends and discard once she is done. However, she never anticipates that their one encounter will lead to a craving for more.

The Butterfly & The Damsel

These  stories gutted me. There were times I had to stop listening because I was afraid of what was coming next. I was angry, sad and happy. It was as if the narrator made me feel what each character was going through. The way she conveyed each character's emotions was outstanding. I felt like I was part of the story, not just listening to it but experiencing it. Oh, I guess I should tell you all that the stories are AMAZING. I would be considered a new reader when it comes to Victoria Vale's books, she has not disappointed me. Her stories may be erotic but they have tremendous depth.

Darcy Stark makes this audiobook

I'm fairly new to audiobooks, but I know that the performer and the material make the performance. So going into this review, I already loved the material. I just wanted to see what the performer did.
Darcy Stark could read the dictionary and I'd love it. His vocals are rich but not too smooth and you can tell he enjoys reading these naughty words. He brings all the characters to life with such uniqueness and gives them personality with just a change of shade in his vocals. I was so thoroughly entertained I went back to listen to certain sections just to see them in my mind.
I already love Victoria Vale. I can now say I love Darcy Stark too. This is a fantastic audiobook and I look forward to many more!

The Villain Sequal: The Butterfly and The Damsel

Two excellent book to follow the Villain Duology. Excellent writing, excellent stories and characters you can love... except maybe Cassandra in the final book. There were times I loved her character, but then other times she really needed to be bent across a pair of knees and given a good old- fashioned spanking!. SO stubborn, but I did come to understand her. Wish there were more books in this series . Thank you, Ms. Vale!

Utterly captivating!

The Villain Duology, The Butterfly, and The Damsel are two beautifully written and riveting historical romance novels, captivating me from the beginning to the end. Victoria Vale is an incredibly talented author; I was utterly enthralled by her words and imagery. Despite the length of the audiobook, not once did I feel as though the story dragged. Both storylines are gripping, graphic, and emotionally charged with multi-faceted characters, struggling with the aftereffects of a sexual assault, during a period when women had no rights. Both novels and the characters will stay with me for some time.

A stellar performance by Darcy Stark; she embodied the characters, emotions, and passion, literally breathing life into every single word. If you're looking for romance with genuine substance and quality narration, this audiobook is what I'd recommend. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The Butterfly 🦋 and The Damsel ❤️ 5 Stars ⭐️

I want to thank Victoria Vale for this Audiobook for an honest review.
I have read all of this highly gifted authors books!
The Butterfly, Lady Olivia Gibbs and Niall, who is hired help at her father, the Earl’s estate. They have always loved each other, as they grew up so did their love. Her father finds out and sends her to London for her first season. What was supposed to be a joyful experience, turned into her worst nightmare. But, as always Niall and her brother were her biggest help. This is a powerfully intense storyline, I can see how much transformation a Butterfly goes through to become so beautiful and majestic! This storyline tests everything Lady Olivia could ever go through, but with Niall, her true love and her healer. This is a definite listen for a loaded book!
The Damsel, Lady Cassandra has been ruined by a cruel Earl, it has made her bitter and out for revenge!
But, on her path to revenge came Robert and her saving grace. Such an action packed and suspenseful storyline! So much revealed and finally revenge fulfilled. Roberts love rescued this damsel ❤️
I absolutely enjoyed these powerful, intense, emotional, healing and tastefully written love scenes ❤️🔥
Also, the narrator is my favorite and extremely perfect!

Two of those stories you never forget about!

The Villain Sequels – The Butterfly & The Damsel – Author – Victoria Vale
Narrator – Darcy Stark

Victoria Vale has written two of the most graphic, yet touching historical novels I have ever heard and having the brilliant Darcy Stark narrating only makes this duo as close to perfect as could be.

The Butterfly is the story of Olivia and Niall. The Butterfly gives us the entire background to Olivia’s part of the story, which was a big part of the first two books in the Villain Duology. – The Villain and The Dove. Although these two stories can be standalone, to have the effect of the entire story in it whole, starting.

Both The Butterfly and The Damsel are the stories of two to the women who were sexually assaulted by Lord Bertram Fairchild, (Daphne Fairchild’s brother from books 1 & 2. Olivia Goodall become pregnant by Bertram and ends up first in an asylum for Unwed Mothers and is eventually found and along with her baby are taken back to the home she grew up in and looked after by her brother the Earl and Niall Gibbs, the man who has loved her since she was ten years old. In Olivia’s case she never told anyone in her family and thought she could deal with the assault, instead she was abused in the asylum and became addicted to laudanum to keep her horror filled dreams and memories at bay. Through all of this Niall has never stopped loving Olivia, it is Niall that is there each step of the way for Olivia to finally break through and take her life back.

The Damsel is the story of Lady Cassandra Lane and Mr. Richard Stanley who ends up being the one man that Cassandra realizes she can count on to be by her side. To have that happen however takes a lot of work on not just Richard’s part, Cassandra much like Olivia has been fighting demons that didn’t just come in the form of members of the ton, but her immediate family. She has only had one friend by her side, who tried to help her through the dark times and in the end the dark times almost win. Having himself lived through the loss of his three older brothers, he knows the depths of darkness but there is something about Cassandra he cannot let go of.

These are not stories built on balls and rides through Hyde Park, but stories of the darkest places a person can go to help ease the pain inside of them. They also deal with sexual assault and physical assault towards women. Women of the time these stories are written in had no real recourse. The men were never the perpetrator it was the woman who led them on, a man could beat his wife and children for that matter, it was never brought up in the ballrooms and parlors.

As a listener you live the story along with the characters, you may cry with the characters and you will cheer them on, along their journey. At the end of each story, you also come away with this, because these two ladies, who had someone who was willing to give them the time and the love that they needed, were able to move forward. Two ladies who had been terribly wronged and two men who willingly stood up to society and through their love stood by their ladies.

I was given a copy of this audiobook for reviewing and the review consists of my own thoughts and words

Sinfully divine!

These two stories are exquisitely delivered by Darcy Stark. Victoria’s sequels to the villain are exciting, dark and erotic. The themes are not for the faint hearted however they are so wonderfully told that the darkness is totally worth it.
