About this listen

Jeanie loves a New Species and is willing to pay for that love with pain, tears, and heartbreak. She’ll do anything to keep 710 alive but she never wants him to know how she suffered for him. He’s the reason for her mission in life - freeing others like him.

True has a new life working with the NSO to rescue his people. A good life, until he encounters a dying woman - the female who betrayed him. True should feel gratified that she’s finally going to pay for her crimes, but she claims to be a victim, too. He is still irresistibly drawn to the pretty little human who touched his heart and made him want her. When he clasps her hand to offer comfort, his instincts kick in and True will fight everyone to protect her.

A Romantica paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave.

Excellent!

It is always a pleasure to listen the happenings of the new species series. Me Dinner always manages to surprise with the different scenarios for each book. I enjoy Vanessa Chambers' performance. I think she has an in-depth understanding of the characters she portrays, contributing to the listening experience!

Another great story

Love this one as much as the other Species novels, but the narrator ends almost every end word of a sentence (except dialogues) in a certain tone. Listen to a chapter, you’ll hear it. Dialogues sounded natural.

The best of the series

Where does True rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Number 1

What other book might you compare True to and why?

none that i have read

What does Vanessa Chambers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She made it real. I did not, however, like Tigers voice in this. What in the world happened. At least keep the voices the same as in previous books. Tiger is suppose to be head of security at the reservation and in this book, he sounded weak and timid. Something was off. Smiley's voice was also horrible in this book, just horrible.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes. The book was still good. But omg the voices were horrible

Any additional comments?

the narrator needs to step up her game. This book was one of the best in the whole series for me, and the narrator did not do it justice. Its like she cant remember how their voices sounded before so she just made it all up.

Favorite in the series so far

This has been my favorite in the series so far. There is an interesting story line that kept me listening. I don't like the helpless female aspects of this series -- (especially when they need to be carried around like children) so I liked that she is a bit of a fighter.

This is one I will be listening to again.

This story had lots of plot and drama! I truly enjoyed it! Love True and Jeannie! Love learning of more species and more about Homeland, fuller and the task team. Don't mess with species! Great one!

True-ly Great Read

I've really enjoyed this series so far. Most books I've enjoyed, but a few have stood out, and True was one of the standouts. When reading paranormal romance, particularly of the erotic variety, there's always the risk of things getting a bit repetitive and stale. This book, however, had a great balance of erotica, romance and mystery that kept me listening with as few pauses as possible till the end.

I like that this author doesn't use the same device to "temper" the romance/erotic aspect in every book. In previous books, she's used drama, action, emotional turmoil, social expectations and other devices to tell a great story while giving the reader the hot romantic action we crave. In this book, it's a mystery that's the key to saving the book from being just another romantic romp in the sheets.

Because it's a mystery, I'm not going to give a real synopsis of this book for fear of spoilers, but I will say that's it's an emotional and entertaining audio experience. Vanessa Chambers does a fine job with the narration, adding to the experience greatly. Worth your time, credit or money.

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT

The 11th book already. Love this series. Laurann did it again with her stories. This one is again a little different from the other ones. This one is about Jeanie who loves the New Species and will do anything for them. However, True doesn't believe her until he touches her and love hits him like a ton of bricks. Ms. Dohner does an excellent job of bringing you in and getting you hooked until you cannot put the book down until you finished it. Plus, she does a great job of giving you a little taste of the next book, so, if you are like me, you have the next book in your library before you are finished with this one. The narrator does an excellent job, as she has in all the other books. She does a great job of distinguishing the characters that Ms. Dohner so eloquently and completely describe. Love this series.

Love this series

Great series. This is one of my favorites. I really wish L.D. Would keep making more. There are still several that deserve their own stories.
