About this listen

Four years after a horrible car accident takes her sight and kills her parents, Sage Montgomery has learned to adapt to her new circumstances in Spruce Creek, Oregon. A new life that includes running the Montgomery horse ranch - which has been in her family for generations - it is the place where she grew up, and Sage has only the fondest memories.

When Sage learns that her home is at risk because of unpaid taxes, Sage must find a way to raise the money. While the bank threatens her, and unwanted buyers circle, she is faced with decisions she doesn’t want to make for the ranch....and her heart.

With two decades of hard work on Wall Street, Julie Aspen has everything she wants. A career she loves, the perfect Manhattan condo, and a sexy, young girlfriend. People envy what Julie has, and she could not be happier. At least, until the firm she works for is accused of fraud. Suddenly stripped of everything and risking an indictment, Julie returns to where she grew up. The small town she hates - Spruce Creek. Things couldn't be more miserable, until she meets the daughter of a long-lost friend. Suddenly, Julie has second thoughts about what may be important in life, and if it is too late to change.

I tried, but couldn't get past the narrator...

I really wanted to love this audiobook. I found it extremely hard to get past the narrator's performance. It felt like the narrator was rushing through the story and sounded like she was reading a grocery list. I know Abby Craden has set a high bar for most of us when it comes to lesfic, but even objectively, Rose Raddatz set a pretty low bar with her performance. I personally would never purchase anything narrated by her or recommend it.

Enjoyable listen

I liked the storyline even if I’d liked to see some aspects done differently.
The reading was okay though I didn’t like the way the voice of the main character was done.
Overall a nice listen.

If the narrator is important to you don’t get this audio - read it.

I should start from the good thing:
This is a good story, quite well written, good characters, deals with important aspect of lesbian life: age gap , handicap, economics. It has a good suspense.
I am sorry I didn’t read it myself and got it as an audio. The narrator was HORRIBLE, she read it like a shopping list, when she tried to give the different characters a voice it was yuck.
Never ever get this narrator, she might be good for non fiction, but not for a lesfic.

Poor Audio and Narration; OK Story

I’m a fan of KC Luck, but this book isn’t my favorite by quite a stretch. Elements of the story were interesting, however overall I found it to be pretty unbelievable. The pace was odd to me, also.
I listened to the sample after reading reviews on the narration and thought it would be ok. As it turns out, I did not enjoy the narration at all. I even slowed it down a little, but that really reduced the sound quality.
I don’t like leaving unfavorable reviews, but I can’t glam this one up. Solid C on this book.

Story need editing and better narrator

Story has a wholesome Pacific Northwest vibe. The NY character Julie’s life seems implausible. The author has okay plot and characters, but would benefit from an experienced editor. For example, the author uses incorrect English:

The author writes like this ‘Julie kissed the woman’. When it should read Julie kissed Sage. Or Julie kissed her. The other main character has a name. The phrase ‘the woman’ would be for a character that is a stranger and or whose name isn’t known.
Narration is amateurish and detracts from story.

Loved this book!

This was a great book by KC Luck! The narrator was ok but a little fast so I had to slow it down. She sounds different than most narrators of the Lesfic books I listened to. Not necessarily bad, just different in my opinion.

Wonderful story!

What else would you expect from KC Luck!
It was a very good audiobook and Rose Raddatz did a wonderful job at Narrating. I felt every emotion and pictured the story in my mind with help of the narration. Take a listen, you won’t be disappointed.

Tired performance to

Though the story was good the performance of the narrator really had a detrimental affect on the overall book. With the strong characters in the book this could have been a real winner but the slow and tired sounding voice of the narrator really leaves much to be desired. Her inflections were often in the wrong place and her voice sounded as if she was bored the entire time. If I were the publisher I would invest in a new narrator, I am sure it would affect the bottom line.

Couldn’t get past the narrator

I couldn’t even see if the story was enjoyable because the narrator did a poor job.
