About this listen

A lesbian medical romance about the powerful breakthroughs we can't always see.

Nadia Keating has barely started her cardiothoracic fellowship training, but she already has the archetype nailed - she's direct, uncompromising, and suffering from a God complex.

Before she can focus on her impressive research, deeply closeted Nadia has a personal project: getting her inconvenient attraction to women out of her system. She picks a stranger online for a one-night stand.

Ashley Rylan, the chief of Nadia's department, is her polar opposite - sweet, agreeable, and soft-spoken - and the stranger Nadia unwittingly chooses.

The two women's meeting is a hostile disaster, and they would love nothing more than to never see each other again. However, their paths keep colliding as Nadia embarks on an ambitious experiment that could lead to a historic medical breakthrough.

Despite warring egos and the secrets they keep, their connection is powerful and growing. Maybe having sex would help them get over their distraction at work? Or would that just ruin everything?

Contains mature themes.

Entertaining

Nadia , while a talented surgeon is irredeemably obnoxious w/o a like able personal quality.
Ashley is Chief of Cardio-thoracic surgery yet is more often than not has the backbone of a wet sponge.

Yet somehow, okay, let’s be real, Abby makes it an enjoyable listen.

I'm Debt Medical Romance

The highly intelligent Dr. Keating is a true ice queen, but she will thaw for Dr. Rylan.

Meet on s dating app, but the meet-up goes badly. Dr. Keating doesn't like Dr. Rylan. She thinks she is to sweet, to soft and to agreeable all the time. This must make her a deficient surgeon who should not be Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery dept.

Dr. Keating finds out there are many layers to Dr. Rylan, as Dr. Rylan sees a different side to Dr. Keating that no one else can see. The polar opposites fall hard.

I laughed a lot

Nadezhda is a psychopath and I’m 100% here for it. I love the dynamic between Ashley and Nadia; especially the sexual tension. It ended up being a sweet story and the characters completely complement each other.

Historical references

For such a strict view of right and wrong the sexual encounter in the office seem very off putting but the overall story was very good

Fun

Fun, light - hearted, enjiyed the dichotomy of the characters and their development. It was worth the credits and the narrator did this book justice as I've come to expect with her readings 🙂

Incredible

I can't say enough about this book. For her first book, Faith Prize hit it out of the park. Having been in the medical feild for 40 years, I can attest to its accuracy. Then to top it off with Abby Craden narrating, you won't want to miss this debut novel.

The incredible Abby Craden bought this story to life

It’s very clear that Prize did quite a bit of research when creating this story. There was evidently lots of dedication. With that being said, some of the transitions were slightly choppy, there wasn’t enough description of what the main characters truly looked like, and the character development of the two main characters felt slightly stilted. IMO The author just continue to dug in deep on their “ personality traits” verses, allowing the characters to still be true to themselves and evolve. She used situations such as willingness to give up something one loved and I’ll take charge attitude in intimate moments to display a change in the characters’ Ideologies. This is great, but it means nothing when the characters themselves don’t show any evolution in the way they interact and the story still progresses with the same types of situations after these turning points.

If this was the offer first book, it was a decent read. I don’t regret reading it at all, and I feel like the author has really great potential. I would be open to reading from the author again and seeing how they develop their personal writing style .

Fascinating medical romance

I found this audiobook fascinating and compelling. I really liked how realistic the medical aspects were, in spite of them also being farfetched, if that makes sense. I loved Nadia's brilliance and Ashley's kindness. Abby Craden was wonderful, as always. I find it hard to rate audiobooks because they are enjoyable, but I can't really assess the writing itself. I did notice what sounded like a few errors, but since I wasn't reading, I couldn't be sure. I especially enjoyed the character of Pari Singh; she made me laugh out loud many times!
