Publisher's summary

Dude, it was just one kiss. One kiss. But kissing in public isn't allowed in Jahwar. And now I've been compelled to give the King of Jahwar my hand in marriage. He's so cold. So polite. But not behind closed doors.

"I'm very much going to enjoy breaking you," he says, just moments after we become temporary husband and wife.

And now I'm about to find out the very, very hard way...

Revenge is best served wife.

Reader warning: This is a dark, full-length romance with blazing hot situations that will make some uncomfortable. Please bypass the buy button if you're looking for a wine and rose petals king. Sexy hero!

I've read a few TT books but I'm not a 1-click with her work. Most of her heroes feel the same and while this hero got a bad rep in reviews, he's actually my favorite hero of hers so far. Zahir was an Arab king of mixed ancestry(his mother was an Indian Muslim) who fell for the tough as nails New Jersey heroine.

These characters shouldn't have worked. He was reserved and she was flamboyant. So much so, that at her friend's wedding, she kissed him(without his consent) and it forced them to take on a marriage of convenience due to how conservative his fictional country was.

The book wasn't perfect; it's attempt at displaying Islam and Bdsm were appreciated. They weren't perfect depictions but they worked for these characters. Zahir wasn't actually as cruel as I thought he'd be, he was just dominant in nature. A lot of the things he asked of her weren't outrageous and pretty much normal in a kink setting. Again it wasn't perfect but I found myself wishing I wasn't swearing off dating so I could find me a sexy Arab boo thang to negotiate with.

The only thing I didnt love about it was Prin's masculine nature. She always had to get the last word, her narrator sounded like she was from Boston instead of NJ and most of Prin's problems she created because she was hard-headed.
But she was a good heroine and her softness grew throughout the book.

I'm not a TT enthusiast and probably never will be but this was a good job on her part. I love a sexy, silent type hero who can splurge on his woman and her family. It was pure escapism and I wish more sheikh romances featured black women because of this.

As always I was very please

After reading a few of the reviews, I was hesitant about purchasing this book. I am very happy I trusted the fact that Mrs. Taylor never disappoints. This was probably one of my favorites. I definitely did not expect Prin and Zahir to be more than over the top and I even expected worse. This book was amazing. I love the way the book touched on other religions, races and another continent. There was education in the words. I enjoyed the tasteful yet no shits taken way of Zahir and the stubborn black girl magic from Prin. I was heartbroken and overjoyed at different parts of the book. I wished for more details of their lives. But I am definitely impressed at how she dosent have any problems bringing in characters from other stories. She is talented and I can't wait to get to all 50 states.

If only

Great story. I love the characters, especially Prin! I'm not really happy with the narrator for Prin, though.

Palpable Chemistry

Not going to hide it, I wasn't comfortable with Zahir's way of training Prin. I thought it was humiliating, but what stunned me further was her reaction. Clearly, not a world that I am familiar with. I did love his Alpha intensity and her Jersey ways, specially, her not backing down. Such palpable chemistry, glad I got a glimpse into their world.

Best Mannequin Challenge Ever

TT’s books are everything! This one was too. The messy humanness of the characters made Zahir and Prin irresistible. I appreciated the time jumps and the realism of the challenges they encountered. Even the secondary characters were multidimensional. I could not stop listening; I could not turn my mind’s eye away. 🚫⏸️ I could see and feel this riveting story. Loved it!

Did not disappoint

I'm quickly becoming a fan of Theodora Taylor. I've enjoyed every book I've listened to so far and I wish more of her books were on audible. Clementine Dove is easily my favorite Narrator, she always brings the characters to life.

Well Written

I love this book because it is well written. The love scenes are scandalous, yet chastened , yet sensual just like the characters. I love that the woman in this book is not a docile creature who would simply go along with any and everything. I truly appreciate that the author took the time to develop the characters, the love and circumstances in such a heart-felt genuine way. Additionally, I can appreciate the power change dynamic that is most often never shifted from a male dominated POV. Moreover, this authors' continuous ability to depict diverse relationships in which women of color are admired for the diamonds that they makes me a life long fan of this author. Great Book!
