Story
When Jesse Watters set out to interview a few dozen radical activists to find out where their wild ideas came from, he discovered two things that shocked him: First, he liked these people. Second, their political positions were not primarily from books, teachers, or other activists. They originated in personal drama. Most of these people didn’t need legislation. They needed a therapist.

Jessie interviews a variety of people and as you probably guessed, these people are on the fringe. He doesn't disrespect any of them but instead offers them deference and a forum to tell their side of the lifestyle they've chosen. Whatever makes you happy....

A few bad Indians are killing people. That's about it. The story just isn't that interesting with a few, if any, plot twists. I usually like Sanford. but this one lacks just about everything.

Story
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

If you're a narcissist who enjoys wallowing in self pity and how the world isn't fair, this book is for you. For example, one chapter was a list of all of her regrets in life, which were MANY. Guess how many of these regrets center on herself and not those she hurt?! If you said 99%, you get a gold star. This is the type of person who you want to stay away from in real life as they will drain your spirit and bring you down.

They call him the Oracle. He's got 46 years under his belt and more hash marks than a football field. More importantly, he has a crew of cops to look out for on the streets of Hollywood. From his understaffed office at Hollywood Station, he keeps a close eye on his squad who spend their day in patrol cars, and their nights in the underbelly of a city that never sleeps.

Just Plain Enjoyable
Reviewed: 11-18-23
This is a great listen. It's an audiobook you'll be able to simply enjoy without trying to figure out any deep meanings or underlying emotions. The story moved along without many slow spots, the characters were well developed and the story line was interesting. I also enjoyed the anti-woke and non-PC nature of the book. I had just finished Prince of Tides and needed to lighten things up a bit. This hit the spot, refreshing and just plain enjoyable.

A modern American classic and a family saga that spans decades, this is the story of the volatile Tom Wingo, his brilliant but troubled twin sister, Savannah, and the complex and damaging family legacy they share. Moving between the sparkling glamour of New York City and the vanishing beauty of the South Carolina low country, The Prince of Tides is Pat Conroy’s masterwork.

I've never read or listened to a better book. You will laugh and you will cry, but most importantly you will gain tremendous insights into the human psyche. It's as if Steinbeck and Mark Twain had collaborated but it's even better than that.

Story
Set in the wide-open spaces of the American West, The Power of the Dog is a stunning story of domestic tyranny, brutal masculinity, and thrilling defiance from one of the most powerful and distinctive voices in American literature. The novel tells the story of two brothers—one magnetic but cruel, the other gentle and quiet—and of the mother and son whose arrival on the brothers’ ranch shatters an already tenuous peace.

New York, 2061: The place called the Pleasure Academy is a living nightmare where abducted girls are trapped, trained for a life of abject service while their souls are slowly but surely destroyed. Dorian, a thirteen-year-old runaway who’d been imprisoned there, might never have made it out if not for her fellow inmate Mina, who’d hatched the escape plan. Mina was the more daring of the two—but they’d been equally desperate.

Nothing good here

I made it halfway through then had to quit. I just couldn't take it. The narration was horrible as this woman had zero ability to do a man's voice. She also speaks so slowly that at 1.2 speed it was almost normal. It's a book written by a woman for women. I don't think most men would find this interesting. Logic zero, emotion 10. I wasted the $12+ bucks it costs but thought I'd give this author a try. Big mistake. Never again.

I can't recommend this book. His previous book was hilarious as the two dicks gave each other crap constantly. But this book had little to no banter between Dickie and Floyd. The story was pretty good however but I really missed the humor the first book had. .
