Story
Elisabeth Elliot was a young missionary in Ecuador when members of a violent Amazonian tribe savagely speared her husband, Jim, and his four colleagues. Incredibly, prayerfully, Elisabeth took her toddler daughter, snakebite kit, Bible, and journal...and lived in the jungle with the stone-age people who killed her husband. In this authorized biography, Ellen Vaughn uses Elisabeth’s private, unpublished journals, and candid interviews with her family and friends, to paint the adventures and misadventures God used to shape one of the most influential women in modern church history.

Theses are the real and excruciating struggles in the normal Christian life of this dear woman’s deep faith in the Worthy One. She helped my own faith grow these almost 50 years of walking with Him with words that were of “the wisdom from above.” I’m afraid this next generation will not know her, but read those whose cultural coolness knows not His holiness, His sovereignty. I am grateful for these deeper glimpses of the things which she allowed to cast her constantly back on His holy breast.

God requires great suffering from some of his people while we in the west live in ease. How often we fail to remember the prisoners as if in prison with them. A wonderful story of the grace of God in great difficulty!

This couple did the hard work of surrender. First to heart wrenching injuries and the long road to healing. Then to letting the Lord reveal His ways which were much higher than their own. Surrendering self is always the hardest, but it is the path to LIFE! Great book.

This book is credible because the author has worked and walked through the desert and faith has increased. Through the trials he believes God enough to talk to Him and bring his simple requests before Him. This is a beautiful book and it encourages the heart.
