One of the goofiest things I’ve heard

This is one I truly regret using a credit for. I got a few chapters in and I just couldn’t continue. Nonsensical, blatantly false information from the start. For instance how was Malcom X a “high profile recruiter and member of the black panther party” when the black panther party didn’t exist until a year after Malcom’s death.

“Elvis was a big man, with big organs which gave him a naturally higher tolerance to drugs” insane

After the disappointment of Book 6 it seems like the author is back on track. Hopefully Boom 7 will catch up with other original characters as well.

RC delivers a great performance as usual.

The story itself is good but it’s disappointing we didn’t get a continuation. I feel Joshua should have continued the story with the familiar characters in this book. Once their story was finished pick up on a different group in this universe.

There are two categories in the SHTF gene

1. Serious well written stories that feel realistic.

2. Well written outlandish fiction.

This story falls under the second category. An outlandish story with outlandish characters in a setting that could be seen as plausible but over exaggerated but overall enjoyable thanks to the performance of the narrator.

A common theme of the 2nd category that is featured here is the lamentation of perverts and everything that comes with it, almost to the point that you think an author could be projecting, I also find it ironic that in the books that fall under the 2nd category the Christian undertones while writing about the execution of drug users and dealer why the main characters indulge in alcohol and the hints of promiscuity.

Overall the story is enjoyable thanks to the performance of the narrator.

Kevin Pierce makes it doable

As usual Kevin Pierce provides a great performance which was the only redeeming factor of this box set. The story itself starts out pretty good but quickly snowballs out of control.

The biggest thing that hits me is the author’s lamentation over “perverts” and degenerates in general yet he writes, rather favorably of a quickly advancing relationship between a 13 year old and a “soon to be man” who turns 18 “next year” and the adults are perfectly fine with it. The type of talk that comes from folks who are well versed in the age of consent laws.

Anyone who has read any SHTF book know that they generally follow the same formula, they all seem to spend a good bit of time on inconsequential details. James Wesley Rawles really brings the useless details on things that have to bearing on the story what so ever. Plenty of Protestant propaganda and fake conservative nonsense. Will sure to be a hit with the Reagan crowd.
The narrator’s performance is good

This narrator is absolutely awful, he did absolutely no research and as a result ruined the story. Audible needs to remove this title and produce a new version.

For me Bobby Akart is hit and miss with his books. Doomsday was one of his home runs! There was much less time filler in this series compared to other series.

First of all Lessa Lamb delivered an excellent performance throughout the series.

On one hand I’m glad this didn’t turn into the typical never ending SHTF cliffhanger saga, on the other hand I feel disappointed. I think more time was spent on the side story than there needed to be to make the point.
