I’m so late to this but loved this series. Reminds me of the Herald Mage trilogy from my teens. Dont miss this for as long as I did.

This was a wonderful way of getting to know Sir Patrick beyond the four pips on his Starfleet collar. And perfect to hear him read it. What a remarkable life, and a thoughtful reflection upon it.

Mirabella skillfully brings us into the pain and fragile beauty of sibling relationships in the face of subtle and grotesque trauma. Very well written.

I loved the writing here, and while the material is difficult, the skill is evident in each painful word. As a gay man, I have never read/heard “f****t” so often in a work that has no gay people in it, which disturbed me as I presume it was meant to do. I yearned for the redemption of m/m love in the face of such wanton and pointless violence between men/boys, but the tenderness here is more fragile and painful than in fiction

This delicious and sinister little novel was a delight. Loved reading about characters with whom I could identify, and was genuinely creeped out at times. I liked the narrator shift although I was skeptical at first. Found myself imagining optioning it for a movie adaptation…

...but we’ve achieved peak misery with everyone else. And Greenwell is lyrical in his invocation of yearning unhappiness. This book reminded me Dale Peck’s Martin and John.

This isn’t War of the Worlds; it’s Mars Attacks. Not The Stand, but a delicious B movie about killer flies and genetic mutations... I see the split reviews and I have one thing to say: this is camp, and the reaction to the book proves one of the book’s main themes.

I'm loving these. The perfect antidote to terrible traffic, I found myself looking forward to the commute, turning off Waze, and taking the slow route home.
