Story
Women have a important biological rhythm they experience every month that affects productivity, weight, sex drive, energy, and mood. It is essential to be aware of and take care of this rhythm, but it has been widely ignored by medical, nutrition, and fitness research. So as women, we diet, we deprive, and we cram as much as possible into our day, striving to accomplish impossible to-do lists, and scheduling our lives based on a 24-hour time cycle, ignoring the intuitive time our bodies naturally keep: a monthly cycle with four hormonal phases that offer incredible advantages.

How we fight predicts the future of our relationships. Most of us blunder into conflict without knowing what we are really fighting about and then quickly become overwhelmed by physiological responses we can’t control and emotions we don’t anticipate. The truth is the happiest and most successful couples fight—all the time. Conflict is human, and necessary.

Story
Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Women get mixed messages about how to succeed at work, and research shows that much of the career advice aimed at men doesn't even work for women. We’re left wondering: How do you say no without being labeled difficult? How do you get paid what you’re worth? Should you go for that next big promotion, even though it’ll impact your family? Known for being 2018’s most-booked female speaker in the world and now a nationally-syndicated talk show host, Mel Robbins answers these questions and more with research-based strategies that you can put into action immediately.

Beautifully Honest
Reviewed: 01-27-19
I’ve always admired Gabrielle for her on screen performances. Reading this book has taken my admiration and respect for her to a whole new level. The book is unapologetically honest and opens the doors to the real world in a black girl and woman’s body. I am a white woman married to a black man raising two beautiful black step children. Hearing my gorgeous 11 year old step daughter telling me that she wants to look like me hurts me to the core. This book shines a light on challenges facing not just black women, but all women. As a woman I found myself relating to so many of the issues brought up in this book. The constant pressure to fit society’s standards and expectations, and the stress of finding yourself in the middle of the chaos. This book made me both laugh and cry. “Gabrielle, I don’t know if you’ll be reading this but I want you to know that I am so grateful for the example you set for women all over the world. Thank you for sharing!”
