In his most provocative and practical book yet, one of the foremost thinkers of our time redefines what it means to understand the world, succeed in a profession, contribute to a fair and just society, detect nonsense, and influence others. Citing examples ranging from Hammurabi to Seneca, Antaeus the Giant to Donald Trump, Nassim Nicholas Taleb shows how the willingness to accept one's own risks is an essential attribute of heroes, saints, and flourishing people in all walks of life.

I REALLY WANTED TO LOVE THIS BOOK
Reviewed: 03-24-18
Nassim is hero to many and I loved his first couple of books. In this one he is angry for some reason and this book is just an anger fest. The narrator does not help either. I wanted to love this book, but stopped listening halfway, it just too much.

Story
Still drinking Cabernet after that one bottle you liked five years ago? It can be overwhelming if not intimidating to branch out from your go-to grape, but everyone wants their next wine to be new and exciting. How to choose the right one? Award-winning wine critic Alice Feiring presents an all-new way to look at the world of wine. While grape variety is important, a lot can be learned about wine by looking at the source: the ground in which it grows.

confusing and biased
Reviewed: 12-05-17
I totally loved the idea of learning soil types and how they impact wines. This book delivered this in a very confusing way that hopped all over the planet and made it very hard to follow. In the end, it was hard to learn anything. I am also sure they wrote this book wearing their brand new Birkenstocks. The idea that if it's not organic its garbage is just a very biased and narrow way of looking at wine

Story
Simon Majumdar is probably not your typical idea of an immigrant. As he says, "I'm well rested, not particularly poor, and the only time I ever encounter 'huddled masses' is in line at Costco." But immigrate he did, and thanks to a Homeland Security agent who asked if he planned to make it official, the journey chronicled in Fed, White, and Blue was born. In it, Simon sets off on a trek across the United States to find out what it really means to become an American, using what he knows best: food.

What disappointed you about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
The book is quite technical, its not even a book, and the audio is boring and quick hard to follow. The interviews are also quite hard to get through. I tried several times and could not bring my self to listening to this book

Have you ever grasped the hand of a potential client and then when the handshake broke, the name seemed to disappear from your memory? Or have you ever left a prospect or an important meeting and as you drove away remembered a key point that you should have shared with them? The problem is NOT with your memory. The problem is with the "Filing System" your brain currently uses to store and retrieve memory items.
