2d characters. Something good for younger readers or people who don't demand high quality writing. Few characters are relatable.

The story itself, plot is probably good on it's own. The characters are often shallow or unbelievable in actions without better understanding of their motivations. The main character is a teenager girl SO horny she literally can't keep a thought in her head if she thinks about a guys hotness or he touches her. We are are talking 14 y.o. boy level of raging hormones. All decisions are stupid and sexually motivated, tho she's never had sex. All stupid decisions make no sense but to further the storyline. Author also occasionally spouts melodramatic proes that are often jarring or just too over the top. I am 75% of the way through the set of 3 books, and will be finishing mearly out of stubborn determination. and ZERO percent curiosity or enjoyment.

interesting, but the effort feels amateurish. also reasons I thought of weren't even considered. why did no one see the possibility that on his was back he cleaned the car? for the 2 hours that were un-accounted for?

Serial Killers have psychological profiles... the killer in this book is a hodge podge of Oxymoronic actions and motivations.
The characters are weak and nonsensical.
Dialogue is painful, the author mixes (badly) descriptions in character's conversations and descriptions... horrid.

I usually finish books on principle... but this is one i'm just going to pass on. I don't need to waste 4 hours on the rest of it

Weak Characters

The overall story is interesting enough, but the characters are weak. The one female character is worst of all. It makes a big deal about what a terriffic shot and fighter she is... she is sassy and gung-ho ALL the time... except when they are confronted by enemies... then she shakes like a leaf and runs... and when she gets kidnapped like a baby... and when she twist her ankle... and a snake freakes her out and the men save her - AGAIN. Why go to the trouble of making her SO tough, then make her a joke?
Dialogue is almost always forcing information instead of realistic, and all the characters have something witty to say all the time.

WARNING this book is all about GENDER

I am conservative, but I also believe that everyone has their own choice to choose their lifestyle...

This book was weird and disjointed on many levels.

I held in there hoping the story would get interesting or make sense. it never really went anywhere in my opinion.

Every paragraph seemed to include a reference to people being transgender. It was clear the main story was supposed to be about gender and how being transgender was normal.

Maybe if you are transgender this would be a good read. For a straight person it was a bit of a brow beating that just because there is transgender issues in the book, that should make it interesting.

Good idea, problematic writing

The Narration: She was sometimes so desperate for another character voice, she made stupid choices like giving a black servant/slave an irish accent!??

The Book: The story was good enough, along with the plot. But out of the blue there were jarring mistakes; Granting the attributes of a dog to a horse she rode to work a couple times a week, Requiring decorum and lady like action when convenient but COMPLETELY ignoring propriety with single men, with townsfolk, etc., heroine judges harshly her best friend who killed 2 spies planning to kill their other bestie, but doesn't give a flip that she had sex before marriage... and same for herself.

This book was struggling to stand on it's own feet, giving a mighty effort... but kept being kicked to the ground by poor writing skills that wreaked of childish "happy ever after" type comments. This book will work just fine for someone who wants a little love story, and doesn't care about details or about understanding the reality of the time period. A little bit of women power, tho unrealistic, thrown in and ta-da! Idle brain entertainment.

This short story format doesn't give room for character development, fine, but it then requires the author to have a firm understand of the character's reactions, motivations and ultimate drive.
The characters in this constantly said and did contradictory things.... CONSTANTLY. my favorite was talking about the loyalty they had in a relationship, then a minute later talking about betraying a boss and organization they'd worked passionately for, for their whole life, and that betraying them would be nothing because loyalty is a man-made construct. ??

It truly feels like a first attempt at writing for someone who doesn't understand the human character. characters are all over the place in this book. you literally never know what they will do or say... unless it follows the heavy setups /forshadowing that hangs over your head like a falling anvil.

Listening to this book was often painful, or as least filled with cringe. I think I spotted a few instances where they pulled out a synonym book and threw in strange choices, or used "cut a swathe through the crowd" way to many times.

I could go on and on.
DON'T pay good money for a low quality book.
If it cost a buck or two... maybe?
