Disaster. There was no other word to describe how Operation Olympic had changed in a flash from a triumph to the worst failure the Merry Band of Pirates had ever experienced. A failure that meant the fight was over. Unless the Pirates could perform a miracle, without Skippy.

How do you write 353 books in a series and keep it interesting the entire bloody time. Shmaybe it’s his magnificence, shmaybe it’s space magic, but it’s gold plated certified a fantastic listen each and every book I read. The story does not get old. It does not get redundant. It’s fantastic every time! Mr Alanson has some of that Joe Bishop “good idea fairies” going on. Creative solutions that keep the reader engaged.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

More Romance and Sex than Dragons and Magic
Reviewed: 03-27-25
Okay. I thought I was getting another fantasy novel. Maybe from a new author who’s on some kinda popular list.
This is a love story. Not a dragon story.
So. If you are looking for Brandon Sanderson, Dragonlance reborn or Wheel of Timey. Then this is not your book. But if you want a steamy love story…. That also happens to have dragons in it. You found your book. So, this is not my jam, but might be yours.

Story
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Eric is the Discworld's only demonology hacker. Pity he's not very good at it. All he wants is his three wishes granted. Nothing fancy—to be immortal, rule the world, have the most beautiful woman in the world fall madly in love with him, the usual stuff. But instead of a tractable demon, he calls up Rincewind, probably the most incompetent wizard in the universe, and the extremely intractable and hostile form of travel accessory known as the Luggage.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It adds to the universe and has the makings for a great movie! So folks said it was derivative. I disagree. I builds on the previous universe and everything is at stake once again. It’s a dungeon crawler wrapped in sci fi drama!

Story
The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem. Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

How, you say, can he keep adding to this large twisting anthology? With his supreme gold plated awesomeness, that’s how!
While “aftermath” sounds more like an epilogue to the series, I can tell you that it is… well. You just have to read it.
Cuz I’m not gonna give any answers. But it’s a great listen! Bray is just the only human I want to narrate all the books i listen to. I love you both. And this entry to the skippiverse is sublime!
