This is his story, or, rather, stories - lots of them, and all gut-punchingly hilarious, from that first far reach into a girl's tight jeans to turning forty with a cataclysmic party. In between you’ll hear about acid trips, threesomes, Nazi skinheads, his band Anal Chinook (Inuit for “warm wind”), Martians in northern Canada, throwing pedophiles in jail, dinner with the Clash, what happens when you crash Bill Maher's show wasted, and the true story of Vice magazine.

Oh Nathan Glondys. Don't quit your day job.
Reviewed: 06-22-18
I tried so hard to imagine I was listening to Ben Shapiro reading this book... the halting, the speeding, but frankly? At times this guy is just messes up words. The accents were bad - but the fact that he uses the same voice for so many people - it became difficult to follow the dialog - especially Sarge and Stryker.
Yes - this genre can be predicable. That is kind of the point. I love survivalist books and Bobby Andrews did a great job of including technical detail without becoming obnoxious. The relationships between characters was perfected fine. The characters are not incredibly developed - with the exception of Stryker and sometimes? That's not a bad thing! I enjoy these kinds of books while I'm doing farm chores and whatnot.
Maybe Kevin Pierce is needing to prioritize narrating just the cream of the crop.
But surely someone had to be better than this Nathan Glondys.
My one issue with the actual story is the musky southern romance attempt. If I was looking for that - I'd just re read True Blood.
I wont be listening to anymore of the series - because of the narrator - so i will never know if the story gets better.

Story
The survivors have come to settle in the mountains of Wyoming, fighting day in and day out to establish a home for themselves in a near-empty world. Things are good at first; scavenging is a workable, short-term solution that seems to be providing all they need. But they know that it’s only a matter of time before the food runs out. They need to scramble to find a sustainable solution before the clock stops, and for a little handful of people up in the mountains, the odds don’t seem very favorable.

it starts off a little rocky - I think that has to do with the narrator and the writing. honestly - bens words read by someone else always sounds off.
it's worth waiting it out because it progressively gets really great and by the end - I really want to hear the next installment in the series. good work Mr Shapiro! ( but seriously Ben - please start narrating your own books. no one can sound as cool as you do)
