Chapters 9 &10 is the best I’ve ever read about describing why people have to die. After a pregnant wife dies in childbirth along with their baby, the husband goes into an angry mourning. He blames himself fir the baby being to big. But his best friend and his new pastor explains this subject so well! I wished everyone in mourning could read/listen to this.
Quin had a grudge against God and although he married again. He wasn’t going to chance another pregnancy to end the same. But he soon learns he was in the wrong and soon makes his marriage whole. After all that time if regrets he was able to leave all the womanizing, boozing, etc in his past. Knowing he was just running but he learned God was there for him.
Rose was only barely 17 but she knew she loved him. She had since she saw him years before. She was there by his side when he needed a nurse to care him through being shot. Her love ( along with the talk with his friend and pastor) Quin knew God had blessed their marriage.
This author does an absolutely great thing in this book. It is book three of this series, you can read it individually but you get the best of knowing the characters if you read them in order.
This does have references to saloon girls, working ladies, it says “she was raped” but they don’t go into details about that. And she talks about consummating the marriage so if you are comfortable with all that I highly recommend this book. This author addresses all the above in a very tasteful manner so I hope that doesn’t make you not want to read this great book due to that

This story is of one where past emotions, actions, and people plaque the main character. But with the help of friends and family he sees he can overcome it all. And realize that that communities doesn’t always hold to the past either.
A little girl caught in the middle of her mamas lies, but the daddy who knew she wasn’t his still took financial care for her. Until the day he checks on her. And even though her skin color wasn’t his and his blood wasn’t his. It didn’t take long for her to be his daughter in his heart and soul. Now to see about the community accepting her.
A young woman seeing the man she was falling in love with. But he stayed at a distance from everyone. She heard of his sketchy past but she also knew that God forgives sin and we shouldn’t hold to the past. So she offered to help with his little girl, and eventually God worked in thier lives.
But not before several things happened including a kidnap robbery and a murder.
You won’t regret the time you spend on this book. It’s a wonderful start to a new series.
I listened to it and the man did a good job at trying to change characters when he should

Can a lawyer pull off a proxy bride and adopted two siblings as a ready made family? Having his new bride thinking the children are really his? Can he pull it off not only with her but to get the state of Kansas to vote him into Senate?
The author adds in the importance of allowing God as your Savior. So through trying to find the new person he has become, it also included a change in attitude toward family and God. Then everything comes into place.
A murder mystery throughout the book keeps you guessing as to who really did the murder.
A wonderfully written book. I enjoyed every moment of it.
I did listen to it and the man did an ok job. I’ve heard him before and have gotten used to him. At first it seemed awkward to have a man read for a woman, but he does do a good job

I haven’t found a book by this author that I didn’t like. And this one was no disappointment. A woman needing a place to live, a man needed to be married to earn his inheritance. Coming together under wrong circumstances and pretenses neither knew how to “fix”. But God had his hand in the mix and lead a long lost person back into their lives, making the man go through old and new emotions he didn’t know how to handle. But it all lead to his giving his heart to the Lord and wanting to live a better life.
Written very well where you feel you are there every step of the way. I listened to this on audio it was a man narrating it. At first it doesn’t sound right as most is the woman talking. But you get used to it and he does pretty well.
This is part of a series but, like me, you don’t have to read in order to understand the story since it’s a stand alone.
This story has no sexual references or language so I can recommend to my advanced preteen reading friends or people wanting a good fun entertaining Christian book

What a special story of “don’t trust a stranger”, to proving oneself, to friendship, to kidnapping to shootout, to love and to family. This story has it all. Written so nicely that you feel you are right there among them.
This is a part of a series but you don’t have to read the others before this to understand what’s going on. ( I didn’t and I was just fine)
I listened to this story and the lady that read it to us did a great job at changing voices for characters and tones to set the scene.
There is no sexual references or language so I can recommend this to my advanced reading preteen friends and adults who like drama, adventure, and romance .

I very rarely say that about a story but this one is so individual in the story itself that made it interesting and not the same ol same ol. The author deals with depression over bring “handicapped “ anger/frustration/fear over not knowing what her future holds for her because if her past. The author includes a trip on a ship and pirates. A stalker and what come out of that. The reading if scripture And most of all brought someone to Jesus before they passed. So much into this made it a story you don’t want to put down.
It does mention “consummating” and “love making” so if your advantage preteen reader hasn’t been “ introduced “ to that then this wouldn’t be good for them. But if not then this is a wonderful book for anyone.

The only reason I can’t recommend this to my preteen advanced reading friends is there is talk of “consomating the marriage “ and they describe abut to the bride. So I wouldn’t feel comfortable telling parents or preteen this was “clear” of anything although the author wrote it in a very mature as clean as possible way.

Very nicely written book, has a little of everything doctoring, orphans, outlaws, semi gun fights, couple that is absolutely opposites in every way. Looking to put Lord in times of trials, helping to show a sinner who the Lord is and what He can do for her life. I really appreciate and loved how the author incorporated having Faith and knowing the Lord.
Because this book does have references to rape and “consemating the marriage “. I really can’t recommend this to advanced preteen friends. Older teens would be fine but preteen I think it’s a bit much.
