In the tradition of Orange Is the New Black and Jerry Stahl's Permanent Midnight, Amy Dresner's My Fair Junkie is an insightful, darkly funny, and shamelessly honest memoir of one woman's battle with all forms of addiction, hitting rock bottom, and forging a path to a life worth living.

Story
When Jade Kelly met her new foster mother, she thought her prayers had been answered. Kindly Carol Docherty was everything her violent, drug-addicted mother was not. Loving and nurturing, she fed and clothed 10-year-old Jade and offered a life free of fear from near constant abuse. Or so Jade thought. As soon as social workers in Lancashire stopped their regular checks on Jade’s progress, Carol turned. Over the next six years Jade and three other girls were effectively kept prisoner in a bedroom she called the ‘bad room’ and subjected to unrelenting physical and mental abuse.

This woman’s true story of survival…the failed system…. This not only happens in the UK, but EVERYWHERE. This was heartbreaking to me that anyone has to endure this. Her perseverance is amazing… I wish that I could love this child and protected her… but realize, she would not be the same strong woman she is today. Much love to the author

Growing up in LA, Erin Khar hid behind a picture-perfect childhood filled with excellent grades, a popular group of friends and horseback riding. I saddens me that our government would hide, and still hides information about UAP’s. I have only ever heard about the so called “conspiracy theories”.
I am thrilled to watch the History Channel’s series and the 60 minutes episode (season 53 episode 50) that was actually taken off the streaming station called PARAMOUNT….which my daughter and I found very odd. That actually makes me want to dig deeper into the subject.
Thank you for opening my eyes to the subject and having the strength and courage to put yourself out there to share the truth!

I have to listen to it again after hearing part two. This book is about strength, weakness and how hard it is to ask for help - while keeping the smile on your face and persevering as well as Saying that you are “okay” with faux happiness and a smile on your face. It resonates with me so tremendously much. I have been on both sides….I shared this book with my own daughter 💜 Thank you for Sharing both of your lives with us. 💜
Cheslie and you have greatly impacted my life. STAY STRONG MAMMA - AS WELL WHOMEVER FEELS THEIR LIFE HOPELESS… You ARE NOT a failure, you’re not alone-You are worthy and not failure- and again… you are worth it 💜

Story
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

Patric Gagne realized she made others uncomfortable before she started kindergarten. Something about her caused people to react in a way she didn’t understand. She suspected it was because she didn’t feel things the way other kids did. Emotions like fear, guilt, and empathy eluded her. For the most part, she felt nothing. And she didn’t like the way that “nothing” felt.

"My father had more than 50 children." So begins the haunting memoir of Anna LeBaron, daughter of the notorious polygamist and murderer Ervil LeBaron. With her father wanted by the FBI for killing anyone who tried to leave his cult - a radical branch of Mormonism - Anna and her siblings were constantly on the run with the other sister-wives. Often starving and always desperate, the children lived in terror. Even though there were dozens of them together, Anna always felt alone.
