Story
Twenty-seven-year-old screenwriter Elle has the chance of a lifetime to write a big-budget movie set in New York City. The only problem? She’s had writer’s block for months, and her screenplay is due at the end of the summer. In a desperate attempt at inspiration, Elle ends up back in the city she swore she would never return to, in an apartment she could never afford (floor-to-ceiling windows, skyline views, and a new coffee shop to haunt included).

Great til the last 25% | Speaker is solid
Reviewed: 03-31-25
I dont mind the trope in the last 25% that much but the execution fell a bit short for me to really make it believable.

Jesse has made it abundantly clear over the years that he wants nothing to do with her–and Viola has no idea why. When their bosses insist a wintery retreat is the perfect team-building exercise, Viola can’t think of anything worse. Being freezing cold in a remote mountain lodge knowing Jesse is right next door? No, thank you.

Corny but decent plot build
Reviewed: 02-01-25
The infatuation feels super forced, and thus it all feels rather prefictable. Without that Id say its a decent story.

Great series - check if you like the voices

Loved this series but the male speaker personaly just sounds so detached, serious and thus ‚boring‘ to me. I am on book 3 now but will potentially have to finish reading instead of listening.

When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. Female narrator sounds like a dansel in distress
Reviewed: 12-09-24
The book is ok, I am not big on it, but its also not bad. But the female narrator doesn‘t fit the character, very breathy, nervous, damsel in distress - sharp contrast to the actual character.

I can’t quite decide if I like the speaker. Her male voices are good. I find the main character with her soso, but at the same time we talk about a ‘heartless’ person, so her tonality does make sense.
