The story is still fun despite some lazy plot

Despite some glaring gaps and lazy creation of high stakes, the story remains entertaining. The third installment overall feels distinctly less polished and thought out compared to the first two books. Still a good time and worth getting to see the characters and world grow further.

War is coming!

I loved chase between mentor and apprentice. The found family.. ugh I love the found family trope so much. Kipp and Cal really had Thea's back. The revelation shocked me but I always knew something was a little fishy with that one. The romance and spice is so good. Imma a sucker for angry spice. Thea did it and I wonder how her question will play into the story. The audiobook did have a static sound in the background, but it wasnt too bad.

Epic Adventure

“Fate & Furies,” the third book in Helen Scheuerer’s “The Legends of Thezmarr” series, continues the journey of Thea, a formidable warrior confronting the shadows threatening her world. This installment delves deeper into the complexities of its characters, particularly focusing on the development and growth of Thea and Wilder. Thea’s evolution is a central pillar of the narrative. Her journey from a fortress-bound warrior to a leader confronting the shadows threatening her world is marked by significant personal growth. Her internal struggles and emotional depth are portrayed with authenticity, making her a compelling and relatable protagonist. Wilder’s character arc is equally intricate. Initially perceived as a traitor, his interactions with Thea are charged with tension and passion, adding layers of complexity to their relationship. The dynamic between them is fraught with communication issues and stubbornness, reflecting realistic challenges in rebuilding trust. Wilder’s past actions and motivations are explored, providing insight into his character and the potential for redemption. The chemistry between Thea and Wilder is palpable, elevating the romantic elements of the story without overshadowing the broader fantasy narrative. Their relationship is a testament to the author’s skill in balancing personal relationships with epic storytelling.
Scheuerer’s writing is lauded for its strong, flawed female characters and action-packed plots. Thea’s pain and determination are vividly depicted, making her struggles and triumphs resonate. The supporting cast, including characters like Cal and Kipp, enrich the story, contributing to the theme of found family and loyalty.

Keeps getting better and better

I originally held out reading book 3 because I wanted to listen to the audiobook. I had done the audiobook for the first two and it was just a great experience.

I don’t regret waiting to read this one. I did a half and half read and audiobook listen. The audiobook remains AMAZING. The narrator’s for Thea and Wilder really did a spectacular job bringing these characters to life. I can say for certain though that there is no way is he!l that I will be waiting for the audiobook for book 4. We are left on a decent cliffhanger although one that I am satisfied with. It was a great hook to keeping you needing more.

Thea and Wilder remain ❤️‍🔥. They may be two of my favorite book couples. They have such great banter and tension. Helen does a great job letting the personalities of these two shine through and complement each other

And Kipp. Oh. My. Goodness. I love everything about Kipp and his connections. He is such a fun side character.

Thank goodness book 4 is just around the corner because I need to read the epic conclusion that is sure to be heading our way!

Booooook four please!

I am very much looking forward to diving into the next, this booked dragged a little in the middle in terms of pacing. I’m certain it was for the development of the characters and plot but it was certainly worth it for the beginning and end.

So, this is NOT the last book....

This is the third and apparently NOT final book in a trilogy that I truly was a little nervous to read. Why, you ask? Well, I absolutely LOVED the first book - then the second book came out and to say that it was a disappointment would be a massive understatement. So, I had absolutely NO idea what to expect with the third and final (I thought) book. I was HOPING that it was going to be more like Book 1, but then in the same breath, I was afraid it wouldn't be.

I'm happy to say that it was kind of in the middle, but with the actual book skewing more towards the good side. Part of what I had a problem with in Book 2 was the fact that this wonderfully written storyline had moved from a complex plotline with enourmously well-developed characters, to a basic smut fest of a book. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with smut. In fact, some of my favorite books would probably fall under this category, but this was not one of them. And the fact that this was supposed to be an intense, rich fantasy storyline with magic, evil beings and the fight between good and evil - well, it was unexpected.

Oh, and don't get me started with the very end of book 2 when our FMC throws everything that she KNEW about the MMC away, and doesn't have a second thought about believing that he just all of a sudden became evil and would do ANY of the things he was accused of, AND that he would betray her in that manner. It was just such a crazy blow from left field and the fact that she bought it hook line and sinker without a second thought....yeah, that was a major problem.....

I'm happy to say that book 3 went a long way towards redeeming itself. I still think that it fell flat when compared to Book 1, but it was MUCH, much better than the second book.

In this book, we finally get to the heart of the matter. Questions that have been floating around since the beginning of our story are finally, FINALLY being answered. Without going into spoilers, let's just say that some of the major questions that I was really confused about began to make sense. I felt like this book finally began to bring in all of the characters that we spent the first couple of books getting to know and determining WHERE they were going to be the most useful in the coming fight. And yep, there were a couple of surprises too.

All in all, it went a fairly long way towards redeeming itself and even though I apparently was the only person in the world who thought it was going to be the third and concluding book, I am still on board for whatever is going to happen in the future. Honestly, I don't even know if there is going to be one more book, or five more .....but that's okay. I'll just be pleasantly surprised either way.....
