Story
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Good Modern Dragon Apocalypse story
Reviewed: 04-17-25
Dragon day is an interesting take on a Modern Dragon Apocalypse story.
There are some rough plot holes and threads that get abandoned, but overall it is an interesting lead.
*spoilers*
My biggest gripe is the lack of any real resolution to the thread of the father. He seemed like a good guy, did a lot to save his son, and maybe died, maybe not after he gave it to the fear and depression. There was no confrontation with the mother, no resolution to her infidelity. She "has bigger fish to fry" and even her affair partner just kind of disappears when he isn't needed anymore. Makes it really hard to root for the good guys when the main POV character is someone I don't respect. Some consequence would have helped, but there are none.

I'm still a little choked up.This book wraps up the majority of the dangling plot threads from the previous books. it also spells the end of a surprisingly excellent series. My only complaint is that the series isn't longer. I would have loved to have spent more time with these characters. The time skips in this book are not egregious, and I think enough time is spent on each to make you feel comfortable before the next one hits. I did really enjoy several portions that are additionally very difficult to write. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't go into detail. However, let's be honest, If you've read this far, then you already know that you'll enjoy this book. It's a well written conclusion to a beautiful story. I hope to see more from this author in the future.

Story
Henrietta Doryn has never enjoyed fighting. She'd rather be in the kitchen baking cookies. But it's her duty as Warrior Princess to face off against the forces of evil. As such, she's unceremoniously shooed from her kingdom to go eliminate the all-powerful Dark Lord next door. Keith Monfort has never enjoyed ruling with an iron fist. He'd prefer to be in his workroom tinkering with practical magic. But it's his duty to lead the Dark Enchanted Forest and the forces of evil. So when Henrietta shows up at his door, he's only too happy to invite her in for tea to talk it out instead.

wonderfully cozy story, harmed by dual narrators
Reviewed: 02-03-25
the story is wonderfully cozy and very well paced. I adore the humor and the characters. My only complaint is the poorly handled dual narration. Most books with multiple narrators assign them characters and perspectives, however I have noticed some books recently doing what has been done here. Character voices and mannerisms are determined by the narrator of the given chapter, making some characters sound humorus and carefree one second, then gruff and intense the next. The encounter with the Lion beastkin around chapter 52 is a really good example of this. It harms the listening experience, imo. That said, the narrators individually were fantastic. Hopefully this issue with narration will be resolved in future books. 7/10, will be picking up book 2!

When Vita ends up fusing her soul with her, the resulting gestalt must struggle to reconcile her conflicting viewpoints and beliefs. Now in love with two homes and full of perspective her old self lacked, Vita must bring peace between warring islands... and if there's one thing Vita has always been bad with, it's peace. The series picks up and doesn't take long to get the reader reacquainted with the characters. The voicework and effects are top notch. The Dolby Atmos magic means it sounds like the VAs are whispering in one ear, and then the other.
That said, it reads well enough, but my GOD is it predictable. It leans on so many tropes and pulls such a TWIST /s at the end that I can't help by cringe.
Final thoughts. I will listen to the final bit if it gets made. I can appreciate good trash and that is what this is. The audio is killer and the story is servicable. If you enjoyed part 1 you will enjoy part 2, probably.

Story
Reports to write, forms to fill, coffee to drink, leads to run down, organized crime syndicates to break. Gus’ life had been a tedium. That was before Melody, a contractor, more or less blew his life up as if it were a building packed full of C-4. Then helped him make a new life, which he himself ended blowing up. A cushy new job with the FED, thrown out the window with a single gunshot. All based on an assumption of who was working for who, and that he’d been on the wrong side of the equation.

Audio book is excellent as always. Cudoz to the Author and Cast.
Gus hits a nice end to his arc with room to continue growing. There is a lot of interaction with characters from other series from the same universe. I suggest reading Super Sales on Super Heroes for additional context, not only because it is an excellent series as well.

Steve doesn’t know who he was. He does know a lot more than he did previously, though. He’s in a country called Lamals where men are required to have children, then more often than not, go fight and die. And that’s just how it is. Things are at least improving, though. Steve successfully put a stop to the Creep’s advance. He’d buried it under a mountain of broken wall and escaped with his life. Which eliminates one enemy. The creep and its undead.

Excellent Book - Some minor issues
Reviewed: 05-17-20
The book was excellent! I can't wait for the 3rd part. It builds up a lot, and paces well. This book also elicited a lot of emotions from me that I did not expect. Only two real issues: - The ending felt a little rushed, and lacked a lot of the detail that made it stick out a bit. - Overall, the VA work was exceptional, however it was a little inconsistent in a couple of places. It was most noticeable when Gwen was given a gruffer voice than usual. Keep up the great work!

Story
The citizens of Azurvale are starting to feel the pressure. War with the Empire to the south is imminent, and there's talk of the city's adventurers being drafted into the campaign. Though this conflict seems inevitable and promises to be horrific, the common folk can do little but act like there's nothing wrong. Rather than lose sleep over something so wildly out of their control, they instead worry about tiny, personal, inconsequential issues. However, the people of Azurvale have yet to find out that their capital is already under threat.

I originally read this via Neven's other publications, and fell in love with the story. I was sooo happy when I heard it was being turned into an audiobook!!! The VA by Jeff Hays and Annie Ellicott is fantastic as always! They give the characters a lot of depth and translate emotion to voice very well. The story is noteworthy as well. The introduction of Kiera has always been one of my favorite major plot points in this story! I cannot wait for the next book and will probably reread from the point Morgana leaves off as well!
