Story
If you crack open a thermometer, the mercury spills out and gathers itself into neat little balls. Mercury is malleable and naturally attracted to itself, so it is easy to contain. However, if mercury is not handled properly, it creates a toxic residue. Whether you’re working on improving relationships or building new ones from scratch, The Mercury Mind addresses a multitude of relational dynamics. This groundbreaking book explores Napoleon’s struggle with vulnerability, Kennedy’s battles with self-esteem, and how Cleopatra’s conflicting desires led to her demise.

This book will change your life!

I can't emphasize enough how amazing this book is. It makes you think about relationships in an entirely new way. I realized how I've been trying to plan the type of relationships I thought I wanted rather than attracting deep, authentic connections with people who truly get me. I may have been confident in myself, but I didn't have enough self-esteem to build the type of relationships I wanted. It's not the same thing. This book changed everything. Read it. Study it. Apply it. And watch your entire life change.

One of the biggest obstacles to better health and fitness is a rarely identified problem: chronic overbreathing. I didn’t have high hopes for a book about oxygen but it had been recommended so I checked it out and the content blew me away. It changes the way you think about breathing and is based on fascinating science. Plus there’s a super practical guide full of exercises for you to improve your respiratory fitness by simulating high altitude training. Great stuff!

Highly recommend this book to anyone even if you don’t struggle with being “too nice” in your life. It’s a bit on the long side and somewhat repetitive but the content is really on point and Aziz has a helpful action plan to start asserting yourself and voicing your needs more in your own life. Awesome work Aziz!

Very entertaining, great read
Reviewed: 01-06-19
Michelle does a great job telling her story in a humble and engaging way. It's a bit long but keeps your attention because the second half is about their time running for office and living in the White House, which is very fun. It starts out as her story but ends up as her husband and family's story so it doesn't really feel complete in that respect. She tries to set up being a "box-checker" as her flaw near the beginning and the laid-back Barack becomes her foil, which works. But then she doesn't pay off this setup in the end of the book. She kind of ends by saying that she's still a person in progress working on becoming the person she wants to be. Just like we all are. So is it a book about searching for yourself then? Not really sure. Again, the second half of her story gets lost in Baracks story and the themes she set up about her own journey are kind of left alone.

I was a bit skeptical of this book because the cover looks somewhat cheesy but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it contains some really sound ideas about growing your network and generating more leads from your existing customers. And it is told through a story, which makes it engaging and a joy to read. I recommend this book to anyone who is in sales or would like to start getting more referrals of any kind.

This book is funny and well written. Cliff takes the reader through the story of his company, Snap Interactive, and how he created one of the first Facebook dating apps and rocketed to a ton of users. He comes across as very real and humble and he shares the big takeaway lessons that he learned from all of this. If you are an entrepreneur or are thinking about starting a business I would highly recommend checking out this book.

Instead, just read How to Win Friends and Influence People
Reviewed: 12-27-18
This book is well written and has some engaging stories. But if you have ever read Dale Carnegie's classic book How to Win Friends and Influence People, you'll notice that Jeb recycles almost all of his ideas from there. Many of the concepts that frame chapters in Jen's book are literally just slight rewordings of principles from Dale Carnegie (take a sincere interest in other people, be hearty in your approbation and lavish in your praise, don't criticize condemn or complain, etc). If you liked How to Win Friends and are looking for more content in the same vein that covers the same ideas, you might find it helpful.

Encourages you to "lead" but doesn't reveal how
Reviewed: 12-24-18
Godin offers a strong case in this book that more people should make the decision to become leaders--to rebel against the status quo. But he doesn't teach us anything insightful about how to actually accomplish this and the book reads like a series of disorganized ramblings about the importance of leaders in today's society. If you are thinking about becoming a leader and need some inspiration, you might enjoy it. Otherwise, I would recommend it.

In 1532, the 54-year-old Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro led a force of 167 men, including his four brothers, to the shores of Peru. Unbeknownst to the Spaniards, the Inca rulers of Peru had just fought a bloody civil war in which the emperor Atahualpa had defeated his brother, Huascar. Pizarro and his men soon clashed with Atahualpa and a huge force of Inca warriors at the Battle of Cajamarca.
