Luc O'Donnell is tangentially - and reluctantly - famous. His rock-star parents split when he was young, and the father he's never met spent the next 20 years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad's making a comeback, Luc's back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything. To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice normal relationship...and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He's a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and someone who has never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. He’s perfect boyfriend material.

I started listening to this book because another author that I admire recommended it. I was going in totally blind, and what a lovely book this was.
Exceptional characters, some of them hilarious, witty and funny dialogue and internal thoughts.
The characters and character development felt real and believable.
I will certainly listen to, or read more from, Alexis Hall.
The narration of this book was excellent.

New York Times best-selling author Sandra Brown is back with a spine-tingling story of murder and betrayal, and a homicide detective's struggle with his own rules of conduct. When Detective Sergeant Duncan Hatcher is summoned to the home of Judge Cato Laird in the middle of the night to investigate a fatal shooting, he knows that discretion and kid-glove treatment are the key to staying in the judge's good graces and keeping his job.

No suspense and not likeable characters
Reviewed: 09-15-23
I am a big fan of Ms Brown’s books in general.
In this book which I suspect is an earlier work of hers, the mystery and suspense was lacking, but I knew that going in.
What was really annoying though was the self pitying FMC, and the slightly stalkerish MMC.
Yes, our heroine had lost her husband in a terrible way, but no one forced her to get into a relationship with our hero. The whole story felt contrived and rushed. You didn’t really get close to and understand the characters in my opinion.
The one character that I really liked was the best friend and she had a glorious moment towards the end which was long overdue.
Jack Garrett, the narrator, did a good job as always.
Onwards to another Sandra Brown with the usual combination of suspense and romance.

As always a joy

I do love to get back to Mary Balogh's books every time. They are warm and comforting and envelopes you like a cozy blanket in front of a fire. I prefer to listen to them, because as always Rosalyn Landor enhances the experience of the book tenfold.
As opposed to some reviewers I enjoy the somewhat lengthy presentations of the characters and surroundings, the slow pace is a balm to my soul.
As almost always in Ms Balogh's books there is a moral or ethical dilemma and discussion that is taking up rather many pages of the book. I appreciate that and like it, it gives more depth to my reading experience.
Enjoyed!
