About this listen

Quinn McKenzie has always lived what she calls a "beige" life. She's dating the world's nicest guy, she has a good job as a high school art teacher, she's surrounded by family and friends who rely on her, and she's bored to the point of insanity. But when Quinn decides to change her life by adopting a stray dog over everyone's objections, everything begins to spiral out of control. Now she's coping with dog-napping, breaking and entering, seduction, sabotage, stalking, more secrets than she really wants to know, and two men who are suddenly crazy for her.©2000 Jennifer Crusie (P)2006 Brilliance Audio, Inc. Critic reviews

"The story comes together with just the right touches of humor and some pretty sexy dialogue. Crusie hasn't yet achieved the name recognition of Sandra Brown or Nora Roberts, but this effort proves she is every bit as good." ( Library Journal)

Any additional comments?

This was a good book. Some of the voices of men were not great but the story was fun as always.

Still a good book

As always with a Jennifer Crusie novel I didn’t want it to end.
Excellent narration.
Only complaint is that it’s abridged.

Excellent Crusie

i love the book and the narrator is great. however, i didn't realize this was the abridged version. i knocked off a couple of stars because i missed the stuff they left out, and it costs too much to be incomplete. my fault for not paying attention, but still, it's abridged, and not as good as the complete story.

great book when unabridged

Taking out parts of the original is not a good thing. Not that they don’t do it well, but I love every word of Jennifer Cruise’s works and I miss them in the audio application.

Stop abridgments please

I liked the concept, but in the end i felt that this wasn't the Crusie I love. I like the narrator though.

There are better Crusie books

I would not have spent $17 on this audiobook if I had realized that it's not the whole story. really disappointing.

Love the author, pissed that it's abridged.

Had been Jonesing for another Crusie for a while, but with no availability of older titles (eg. Anyone But You, Getting Rid Of Bradley, etc) on audible, I finally decided to give the audio of this a try, despite it being an abridged version. I'd read this one years ago and it was never a favourite (I have no idea why it was one of her top sellers) and I had some credits spare that I wasn't using.
I actually enjoyed this version better than the original, but as I say, it never really did it for me (actually found it a bit monotonous, so cutting out a lot of the deadwood really worked for me); but I am certainly not tempted to try the other abridged Crusie novel offered (Tell Me Lies) as I loved that one and enjoyed every bit (hoping they'll do an unabridged version. hint hint!)

not bad, but not up to Crusie standards

Jennifer is an amazing story teller.. I love all of her books! I have them in paperback and audible.

awesome

I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't the typical Jennifer Crusie book to me. I didn't see much depth in the romantic part of the story. I wasn't really fond of the "hero." He was kind of a jerk, in my eyes-- and didn't really redeem himself and I didn't get why she liked him so much. The other characters were pretty fun, and some of the situations made me smile (which is why I gave the book a relatively high rating). Some situations were kind of intense, which makes for a fun book. Don't want to spoil anything, but I think it was a relatively fun read.

Narrator was great to my ears!

creepy
