This story continues many many years after the last one so the kids from the last few books are now all grown up. It’s such a delight to listen to the new era of The Black Dagger Brotherhood and their families along with the ones that began it all. Of course, this series wouldn’t sound the same, at least to me, without the voice of Jim Frangione. His voice reading the books of JR Ward are like the finest of comfort foods, whatever that might be to you. I will say that at first, I did not enjoy the character of Nalla but as the story went on, it was clear why she was the way she was (I still didn’t like it) but as all the characters in this series, she grew wiser and kinder. The ending is as sweet as it can be. There were also seeds planted for what I HOPE is the next book and couple to have their story told! Great book. Great series. Great narration. Great author. I am one happy reader/listener!

Sweet and Suspenseful
Reviewed: 01-17-24
I love when secondary characters breathe such life into the story they get their own. This story is just that with Arrow from book 2 (Broken Dove) of the Open Road Series. Arrow is struggling with his business of being a PI/Security when Annie shows up on his doorstep. These two are immediately attracted to each other but keep it professional… for a minute. But when you know, you know. And of course, there’s nothing like when an Alpha shifts into protective mode. I loved the intrigue and that I was kept guessing until nearly the end when it all came to a head. I love the epilogues and getting to see the HEA for the characters. This series is fantastic! Looking forward to listening to more from this author and the other secondary characters mentioned or that have appeared in this series!

Fabulous Ending to a Fantastic Series
Reviewed: 06-28-23
I've been waiting for the female character to get her own story and was not disappointed. Marialena Rossi has been a terrific character throughout the series, mischievous & fun loving. She's managed to avoid real trouble/consequences for the longest time and unfortunately for her, that time is now.
OR should I say, fortunately?
Enter Salvatore Capo. The complete opposite of each other, their attraction is nearly instant and when they finally come together, the heat is definitely on! She is a rule breaker to his downright dirty punishment. He is dark and broody to her ray of sunshine smile. They work so very well together, and I loved it!
Add in the twists and turns that mafia life supplies and it's a marriage made in heaven -- even if it was the day after they met. It works!
As always, the narrating team of Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott is magical with their spot on voices. I love that you had them throughout the whole series. Thank you Ms. Henry for not only writing this wonderful series but making sure it is put here on Audible. I look forward to your next offering... I know it will be perfection!

Updated Twist on a Classic Fairy Tale
Reviewed: 12-03-21
I truly enjoyed this twist that the author gave to this classic fairy tale.
The Little Mermaid is one of my favorite fairy tales so I was excited to see how this reimagined story would be. I was not disappointed. Never saw it coming and to be honest, it was refreshing!
Story: Ursula has a son! Victor forges a friendship with the kings daughter, Ariana. However, Ariana finds herself falling in love with Prince Ivan which sadly for Victor, leaves him the third wheel.
One of these men will eventually break her heart and Ariana will have to step into the role she doesn’t necessarily want in order to save her world, but she will do it with her true love at her side.
Fun, interesting sea creatures were introduced as well as a new villainess that ranks right up there, if not leads a whole pack of mean girls. A few, sweet secondary stories were woven in and wrapped up nicely by the end.
Performance: Though I did enjoy the voice of E. Dante Chandler, there were several times that he either repeated a sentence or made a mistake that wasn’t caught and re-recorded. All in all, he has a very nice narration voice.
Overall: There were a few grammatical errors and a little too much blushing, but truly was an enjoyable listen.

Murder by Page One was so delightful, I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed this book! The pacing was perfect as we followed Marvey as she worked hard to save her friend from a murder conviction she knows her friend did not commit. Just a hint of a possible romance with the hunky Spence just adds to the recipe for a great book! The narrator is spot on and wonderful. Can’t wait to read/listen to the next installment! I’ll definitely be putting in a preorder. Loved it!

It's been years since I read this book. I was thrilled to find it here on Audible. The narrator was absolutely fabulous... and the story? Still swoon worthy after all these years. This story still has the power to make me laugh and cry, cheer and jeer throughout each and every audio page as it was read to me. Ms. Deveraux is a wonderful story teller, a weaver of magical words, each word so dreamy. Thanks to whoever had the foresight to put this on Audible. I'm so happy to have found it and have it as part of my cherished collection of wonderful romances.
I wouldn't mind if more of Ms. Deveraux's Montgomery/Taggert books were available here. Hint. Hint.
Thank you so much.

Story
Showing up to investigate a double homicide, Sheriff Phoenix Cade almost comes out of his boots when he sees the blonde--the only witness to the crime--covered in blood. He'd danced with her a few nights before and had every intention of getting her number until she threw up all over his shoes. Hell, his shoes would wash. Ria Portman has spent the better part of six years convincing her family and friends that she could take care of herself. The accident took her sight, but it didn’t take her independence. There were a lot of things she’d learned over the years, especially regarding men. They said they could handle her disability, but truth was, they lied. When her assistant and client are murdered in her studio she will have to rely on one man—the one man who makes her want to trust again.
