About this listen

Another sexy, high-stakes holiday spinoff installment of the New York Times bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Nothing warms a cold heart like true love, and in this newest Black Dagger Brotherhood winter book, a fighter who has never been a savior finds himself falling in love—and trying to rescue—a male who’s lost all hope.

With the BDB training center reopening, and the Brothers looking to add more soldiers in the war against the Lessening Society, fan favorite Callum decides to find his purpose in fighting. Apex knows what suffering the male has survived, and he joins the program just to make sure Callum doesn’t get himself killed. As the two hit the streets, and the danger gets real, Callum must decide whether he can open himself up to love or if he will give in to his inner darkness and spiral down into an abyss of hatred and death...forever.

Loved this!!

I’ve loved every BDB book I’ve read or listened to from the very beginning. I never knew I liked vampire books until I read the first BDB book!! But I do and read or listen quickly.. and I’m always waiting, impatiently, for the next book.

I am a huge fan of Jim Frangione’s voice and could most likely listen to him read the phone book!!

Read the or listen to them…. But it’s an experience you must have! I recommend them highly!!!

Great as usual!

It’s a bit confusing at first because the books jumped 30 years. Now I need to read the prison camp books to see if they can fill in some blanks! Still.. this is so worth it!

Apex and Callum 🩷🩷🩷🩷

There is nothing like a true love BL book.
I absolutely adored Apex from day first prison camp - the Jackal. Upon meeting Callum in the Wolf you could tell it would be a thing between them and gosh JR didn’t disappoint. I loved how honest, real and connected Apex felt, his patience his complete love for Callum. Just another hit out the park and amazing narration as expected from Jim.
No one else can read her books lol 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

Apex & Callum

❤️ Apex & Callum’s their Story … it ended way too soon.. Mayhem & Marisol’s story needed more details about Mayhem.. who is He?
BDB should never been a side note .. MORE 💕🔥

To short

Love J.R Ward !! Another great story. Way to short that's the only complaint. have all her Black dagger brotherhood and this has to be the smallest book.

Back on Track!

The last two books in the series involved a 30-year time jump that allowed the Brotherhood “young “ to grow into adulthood and their own adventures. The jump was jarring but now seems to be in place and the stories feel like they could go on forever, which I hope they do :-)

This super-good book concludes the Prison Camp series with Apex and Collum’s story, along with a second romance between Mayhem (a minor character in Prison Camp) and Marisol, an aristocrat of the Glymera. The Brotherhood (mostly Tohr and Vishious) has a crucial role. Wrath rules.

I now feel more confident that the series is off and running with “fresh blood,” if you’ll pardon the vampire image. Seems like Mayhem and Marisol, along with Vishous’s mini-me Alan, may show up in future books. And then there is Blade, a mysterious and intriguing Sympath who seems to have transformed the former Prison Camp into a spiritual hermitage. Hope we'll hear more of his story. I can’t wait!

🌻Much better than the last book🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

This book is a bridge between the original BDB series and the Prison Camp series. There are two relationships explored, in this book, Callum(the Wolven) and Apex and Mayham and a new female character.

Callum and Apex’s story started in the Prison Camp series. Callum had be physically and sexually abused, and nearly died, at the hands of the woman who ran the Prison. Apex stays at Callum’s side during Callum’s recovery, however, when Apex is gone one day, Callum disappears without a word. This book start thirty years after that event when they stumble across each other, again.

Although this book does not have the long, detailed courtship of the early novels, this book seems complete, where the previous did not.

The enemy is not Lessors, this time, but rather the new glimmera that has formed.

I was glad to finally experience the resolution of Callum and Apex’s story.

With that being said, I was very confused with the author’s summary. The summary did not describe this book, at all?

Wow!!! Again!!!

Always the story! It always keeps us close to the characters! I have listened or read, every J.R. Ward book. She has the most amazing writing skills I have ever read and listened to!
I continue my excitement, anticipation and curiosity for the next book. I have to say… the Black Dagger series has been a series I truly hope will continue through all of eternity.
Haha! Which is completely unreasonable. However, through all of her hard continued work in providing me with the best series I’ve ever read… I will continue to give the praise and appreciation this author deserves!!
I will also say, I love that she ties my (angels and demons) together with a twist of “WOW” you wouldn’t realize until you read all of the amazing books she has done.
So…. Thank you again for such an amazing book!!!
