It’s whispered that behind every mysterious death lurks a Quadrad. But when Garm enters the wide galaxy, she finds her prestigious training entirely insufficient. Most Quadrad are abysmal failures, unable to cope in an advanced technological empire. The Quadrad are nothing but a very clever marketing campaign that has been going on for 20,000 years. Garm not Hank
Reviewed: 03-09-22
Written in the style of the author, but not like Hank. Gabrielle de Cuir makes a good Garm. This is not about Hank. The story of how Garm came to be. A good fast paced adventure.

Story
Kate and her younger brother, Tom, lead dull, uninteresting lives. And if their dull, uninteresting parents are anything to go by, they don't have much to look forward to. Why can't Kate have thrilling adventures and save the world the way people do in books? Even her 11th birthday is shaping up to be mundane - that is, until her mysterious and highly irresponsible Uncle Herbert, whom she's never even met before, surprises her with the most unexpected, exhilarating, inappropriate birthday present of all time: a colossal steam locomotive called the Silver Arrow.

A Magicians adventure for children
Reviewed: 10-05-20
I loved the “Magicians” series, but this book is written for children. It is full of magical adventure for children and I enjoyed it too. This is left open to a series. A good short story with more adventures to look forward to.

Story
Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

Strange & Pointless
Reviewed: 09-17-20
I read all the raving reviews so I went back & listened to it a 2nd time. I wanted more of “Johnathan Strange & Mr. Norrell” , but this is nothing like that. The world created in this book is not magical, but just boring. The narration was great. I wanted to like it after reading the reviews, but it just isn’t for me.

Ray Porter is my new favorite narrator. The 1st book of this series 14 is my favorite book. I have listened to 14 many times. I have been waiting for more of this story. Terminus was so disappointing it ruins the entire series for me. 14 was cutting edge science fiction. Terminus was over the top unbelievable and made no sense.

This was fun, zany and I loved it. I am not a gamer or much on social media, but I grew up reading comic books in the 1950s and 1960s. I only know of her from tv sci-fi & fantasy. Her narration made the experience. I don’t think I would have enjoyed reading the book. I would recommend this audiobook for a short light autobiography.

Now she's seeing strange things all around her - dark visions from the shadow world - and living a normal life may no longer be possible no matter how hard she tries.

I don,t think I would have enjoyed this book if had been read by anyone else. Each of the female parts sounded like a different reader. The male voices Not so much. My favorite character was Lady Guendalin of Anorexia. This resembles The Dresden Files only a female version.

Story
If you've never read a Repairman Jack novel, this is the place to begin. It's 1990. A twenty-one-year-old named Jack has dropped out of college, leaving his old life behind to build a new one in New York City. Manhattan's rough edges are jagged enough to shred any unwary newcomer, but perhaps not one who is determined to stay off the grid, at any cost, in the busiest metropolis on earth. And to do so, he'll have to take jobs of a less than legal nature.

Finally more Repairman Jack on audible
Reviewed: 01-27-13
I searched for more Repairman Jack, but there were only a few recorded. I even broke down and read the 1st book of the series. I see finally there are more audiobooks with a different narrator( I hope they keep the same narrator for the rest of the series). This 1st book explains the beginning of how young Jack became "Repairman Jack". Jack who lives off the grid and lives by his wits to become the man who repairs problems only he can fix using questionable and sometimes violent methods. I am looking foreward to the rest of the series.

Return to Moonlight Bay without Christopher Snow
Reviewed: 01-20-13
This was one of the better Odd Thomas books, but this story could have been the 3rd book of the Moonlight Bay series. The plot is centered around Fort Wyvern, one of Christopher Snow's old stomping grounds. This is not one of the typical Odd Thomas books where he is influenced by the dead. The relationship with Annamaria from the previous book "Odd Apocalypse" is also revealed. If you are a fan of the Odd Thomas or the Moonlight Bay series you will love this book.

Story
It all starts with a train rushing through the night…. Well, actually, it starts when Jon Scieszka, former National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, writes a cliff-hanger episode and passes it on to the next member of a cast of celebrated writers, who continues the story and pass it on. And what happens between episodes one and 27? Think werewolves and mad scientists, a talking pig, plenty of explosions, a blue Star Wars lunchbox, two meatballs, a whole army of villains and varmints, and more!

Phil Gigante pulls it off
Reviewed: 03-30-12
Would you try another book from the authors and/or Phil Gigante?
Yes, but not written like a tag team where the authors write where one left off. Phil Gigante somehow makes up for the storyline with a great performance.
Has The Exquisite Corpse Adventure turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
Have you listened to any of Phil Gigante’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. He does agreat job making a bad story sound good, but with a good story he makes it great.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No, never.
Any additional comments?
The authors made a game out of putting the next writer into a stupid storyline.
