Story
Life on the Waves isn't easy. Especially if you're a pickpocket with no education, no prospects, and no future. For Chase and his crew of low-lives, there is one real option. If they want a path out of poverty, they will have to unlock access to the magical card system that will change their lives for the better. Of course, nothing's free in life. And nobody higher up the chain is going to give them a hand up. But what they might lack in education, riches, and, let's face it, hygiene, they have in determination.

Story
Sylas Runewulf has been dead for about a month, but he's making the best of it. The former battle-hardened swordsman is now a brewer and pub owner in the town of Ember Hollow. He's also made a few friends here in the Underworld. Plus, he has a pet in Patches the cat, and he recently bought a farm, complete with a peppy pup named Cornbread. Not bad for someone who once lived and died by the blade.

Story
Wayne dreamed of piloting a thirty-foot-tall walking robot that was closer to a battle-tank than anything else. They were called Walkers. They were armed with laser cannons, rockets, missiles, and heavy kinetic weapons more similar to artillery pieces than guns, and everything that went with that. Unfortunately, he had been declined military service. His only avenue left to become a Walker Pilot was to make it happen all on his own. Under his own power. With his own hands. Literally. Working his fingers to the bone, saving all he could, and digging through junkyards and salvage pits,

Story
Salvatore's worst nightmare is taking on a demon, but if he wants to stay at Quest Academy, how will he prove to himself and everyone else that he can succeed? He's going to have to take on an entire floor of a demonic tower before the first semester comes to a close. That's the least of Sal's problems as he navigates through his first student mission away from the school. Sal is more comfortable at the crafting table, but he needs to survive in a reclaimed zone outside of the academy with the worst team of misfits you could possibly imagine.

Spoiler. Florence Nightingale is not a wish-washy woman, er… dungeon. She is not one who would sit there and let people die while she tries to decide if she should help them or get a high kill rate by accident. But that’s what happens, again and again. The further into the book I got, the more uncomfortable it made me. As soon as the story started improving, it would go south again. There were so many unanswered questions when this book ended. Florence wasn’t the same person at all even though she had been presented as the same in the beginning of the book. I almost didn’t finish it and I feel it was a waste to listen to. Apparently the 3rd book is better.
