About this listen

A former assassin. An unspeakable past. The powerful people who want him dead.

Retiring peacefully in Genshin Valley was never an option for Danzen Ravja, regardless of his intentions. To prevent any more attacks on the defenseless valley he now calls home, Danzen and his yokai companions head west to address the Diyu Brotherhood head-on, to face down two honorable assassins and even more with no honor at all.

Danzen plans to bend his echo upon his return, to cultivate his inner strength through the power of a fallen heaven. He holds a desperate faith that it will give him control over his demons and bring him closer to wholeness. But the extremes he must take to accomplish these tasks may end up killing him, and that’s before his demon half-brother comes for him.

Danzen is no stranger to life or death struggles, no shrinking violet to wilt under the pressure of risking his hide to do what must be done. But with other people's lives on the line - people he cares about and who care about him in return - Danzen must use his talents of dealing death to save their lives.

Pilgrim is a xianxia cultivation series inspired by the Witcher books, John Wick films, the Inuyasha anime, the Preacher comics, and the movie Yojimbo.

Love the cat!

You can’t beat a shape changing lazy cat who eats everything and gets into mischief at the drop of a hat! Loved it!!!

Enjoyable charachters

I enjoyed listening to the audio version of Pilgrim 2. Mikael Naramore does an excellent job doing the voices of various characters and I laughed out loud a number of times. The story was engaging with a twist that I didn't see coming at the end.

Fun Listen.

I enjoy the characters and the story is pretty good. The only negative part of the book are the fight scenes, pretty bland. I hope the fights improve in later books.

This is cathartic

Really enjoyed book two after book one. I still don’t know which direction everything is going, and a whole lot more wrapped up in book two than I expected. The story still reads like watching a video game character live out a story, constantly going on side quests for NPCs and the story quest popping in when you don’t expect.

It’s easy, not taxing on your brain, with all the right ingredients to keep the story moving forward, keep it interesting, and give you something to relax and enjoy.

Awesome story!

Love the characters and the narration, the inclusion of Yōkai and other super natural eastern type monsters that speak and fit well into the story line, you don’t see in to many of the cultivation novels that are coming out recently. Highly recommend and enjoy the ride, it’s dark at times but lots of humor as well! Looking forward to book 3

Better

Better than the first book, but I think the author was aiming for a gradual type story, and the powers seem kinda underwhelming but other than that the book is alright still boring at times but not as bad as the first book

Slow pace and unique story

The buildup to the end and then the fight is very very short. I feel like it could’ve elaborated a lot more.
