I just finished chapter 2 and I don't think I can continue reading this book. The constant bickering, second-guessing, and slapstick humor for 17 books is awful. I don't know why I bought it when there are so many other stories out there to fill our days. I've decided to call it a bust and move on to one of the hundreds of other titles I have waiting to be read.

Story
When the cultivators came to Earth, they destroyed our entire civilization in a matter of hours. Armies fell, cities burned, and that was before the moon turned red and filled our world with monsters. Now, over a decade later, what's left of humanity slaves under the heels of our Qi-infused masters. The luckiest of us might even become one of them, they say—if we serve the Dynasty well enough and harness the power of Qi. But I want none of that. I'm sick of serving, and I want nothing to do with their world. Instead, I want them to pay for what they did to mine.

I thought that the story line was fun, the narration made it a more emersive experience, and I even found myself giving the hero a "yahoo and whoop" when he was successful. It was wonderful to find such a wonderful actor to narrate a fun story.

I loved the story line, and looked forward to the adventure. It seems to me that the lengthy explanations of circumstance were just filler. It just gave me a reason not to folow the series. Too many things to listen to
