Jeff Hays nails it on the narration, he's one of my favorite and as usual he elevates whatever he works on and I'm here for it.
it's a damn good time.

Hell, forget about leaving, if Dan wants to survive the week, he's going to need to harness the strange game-like magic of the Backrooms, make some very sketchy allies, and carve out a little safe haven to call his own.

If you like DCC, this has a similar feel. Snarky, darkly funny, and a good bit of 90’s nostalgia.

I don't want drag down the Book score, BUT

the narration is lackluster. I got the book on the review from Dakota Krout, who has written a few good books imo. this one seemed decent too, the premise was fun, but the poor narration amd the fact that I couldn't stop thinking "Temu Dungeon Crawler Carl"
I'd say just go relistem to DCC.
times are tough and I'd say that even going in with an open mind, I regret spending a credit on this.

the longer I listened to it, the more I liked it. it was tough to vibe with at first, being a little disjointed. but once you fall in step with the narrative of reaper squad, you'll want to hear how everything turns out.

listen to the sample to see if the narrator is ok for you. There's a effect/audio filter being used, and it's actually explained multiple times in the story if you pay attention.
other than that, it's the strigoi version of The Siberian Incident.

I couldn't make sense out of the ending at all. did the kid time travel? or hop to an alternate dimension? why the hell did the lady still have the MC's pendant, but no memory of the MC?!?!
I'm glad this was free, it was entertaining but that ending really frustrated me.
