Story
Tia and Mike Baye never imagined they'd become the type of overprotective parents who spy on their kids. But their 16-year-old son, Adam, has been unusually distant lately, and after the suicide of his classmate, Spencer Hill they can't help but worry. They install a sophisticated spy program on Adam's computer, and within days they are jolted by a message from an unknown correspondent addressed to their son: "Just stay quiet and all safe."
Meanwhile, Betsy Hill is struck by a photo that appears to have been taken on the night of her son's death...and he wasn't alone.

Twenty-two years later, Kierce, now a private investigator, is a new father who’s working off his debts by doing low level surveillance jobs and teaching wannabe sleuths at a night school in New York City. Harlan Coben never disappoints. He is able to hook you from the beginning and hold you to the end! I have read and listened to dozens and dozens of his books and will continue to do so. This book was great and the narrator was excellent.

This author is so good at not only weaving a good mystery story, but creating excellent characters that you connect to and root for. Loved this and will listen to the next one, especially if it’s the same narrator. She was perfect!

I listen to a lot of audibles and I usually just kinda tolerate narrators for one reason or another. This narration was excellent. She didn’t unnecessarily over-emphasize like so many do, not did she sound like a robot. It was just right! The story was really good and it kept me hooked. I like the characters, too. Great listen!

On a flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that’s going stale and his wife, Miranda, who he’s sure is cheating on him. Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start - he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit - a contrast that once inflamed their passion but has now become a cliché. But their game turns a little darker when Ted jokes that he could kill Miranda....

Great story, boring narration
Reviewed: 09-03-24
Narration wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t listen, but none of the narrators were actually good. Very robotic and nonchalant. I’d say the only one that was any good was the cop at the end. I’m kinda picky with narration because I’ve listened to so many books and there are some superb readers out there! Other than that, the story was great. Kept me interested until the end. And I like the little twist in the last 30 seconds. Very cool!

Story
Riverside Close is a picture-perfect community. The six exclusive and attractive houses are tucked far away from the noise and grime of city life, allowing the residents to enjoy beautiful gardens, pleasant birdsong, and tranquility from behind the security of a locked gate. It is the perfect idyll, until the Kentworthy family arrives, with their four giant, gas-guzzling cars, gaggle of shrieking children, and plans for a garish swimming pool in the backyard. Obvious outsiders, the Kentworthys do not belong in Riverside Close, and quickly offend every last one of the neighbors.

I think I’m just used to reading books that are known for their twists and turns. This story was just boring. No surprises, and it was too short to appreciate any good character development. It was free, so I’m still glad I listened to keep me occupied while doing chores. It it was just meh.

Story
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

I’m glad I didn’t pay for this one. It was just meh. I could not find it in me to root for any of the characters— they were all either very stupid or very unlikeable. The narration was just ok. Not bad enough to stop listening, but she read it like she was kinda bored and didn’t put much effort into making the characters sound like they had different personalities. All in all, it was just mediocre, but I for a free listen it did entertain me.
