Story
Scott Galloway teaches brand strategy at NYU's Stern School of Business, but his most popular lectures deal with life strategy, not business. The Algebra of Happiness: Notes on the Pursuit of Success, Love, and Meaning draws on Professor Galloway's mix of anecdotes and no-BS insight to share hard-won wisdom about life's challenges, along with poignant personal stories.

Great Advise and Wisdom with Story Telling
Reviewed: 07-30-24
Really enjoyed this book, Scott delivers great wisdom on life and what he has learned as important over his years. It is all relevant today and not out of touch. Not preachy, not religion-focused, just direct life advice. Great narration and great advise delivered very well in a storytelling fashion. Just loved this book.

Unclear and confusing

The author keeps referring to one more of something but does not define what "one more" actually means or what you need to do to become a one more thinker or one more person. There was one chapter in the whole book that was worth the time but otherwise this is a hard pass, save your credit.

Really enjoyed this book. I have practiced martial arts for 10 years and it offers a good perspective from a bunch of martial arts and good education on Bruce Lee and why he was so revered.

Dry

I am a huge fan of military leadership books. But this just tells a bunch of war stories in highly technical military terms with minimal application to business leadership. It’s sooo dry it is hard to listen to while driving and trying not to fall asleep. Brutal. Save your credits.

I found this book very hard to focus on and found that the author really did not explore any of the ideas in much depth. Really just scratched the surface, kind of disappointed because I expected some tools/tricks to help with workload. I dont recommend this book as it was OK. I will be re-listening to this book to get my moneys worth, but it will not be for my enjoyment.

In this book, we travel inside Emily's and Paul's brains as they attempt to sort the vast quantities of information they're presented with, figure out how to prioritize it, organize it, and act on it. Fortunately for Emily and Paul, they're in good hands: David Rock knows how the brain works - and more specifically, how it works in a work setting. Rock shows how it's possible for Emily and Paul, and thus the listener, not only to survive in today's overwhelming work environment but succeed in it - and still feel energized and accomplished at the end of the day.

SNORE

I bought this book hoping that it would help me with my quest to be more productive at work. However this book really did not add anything or help me out in any way. It was like listening to a neuro psychology text book. There were some interesting points but they were lost in useless psychological dribble and the narrator is so painfully slow, I couldnt finish the entire book. Bottom line dont waste your money, there is nothing in here that will help you be more productive. I would suggest buying the "get it done guys" book on organization. It is delivered well and will give you direct tips to use in your day to day work.
