Don't let some of the negative reviews influence you,
the author tried new things in this installment, and while personally they weren't my favorite; it is a great series.
This novel brings forward plot threads from previous books in the series.
It also expands the main characters' development, and we get to see them in a SOLO adventure.
If crunchy LitRPG is not your thing or bathroom humor, then you're probably not going to have a good time.
Because there's loads of prompts and stats in this one.
While this is one of the longest books in the series, it FEELS short as it takes place over a few days.
Also, the epilogue is not included with the audiobook and can be found on the authors website.

Unfortunately, with Stage Two of Initialization, this will prove to be a daunting task. More complex monsters and beasts are rising, some forming more cohesive and dangerous tribes, unlike the simple goblins and kobolds we have seen so far.

As a reader I am paying for entertainment not to get lectures on such a controversial issue.
Which it what it feels like instead of a story.

l loved this.
Great story and excellent world building.
if you like LitRPG, and the Dresden Files you'll probably enjoy this.
Although I really don't like the pixie especially the extremely irritating voice the narrator picked to voice it.
It's like nails on a chalkboard.
Narrator is otherwise excellent, as usual.
I will definitely be getting the next book when it comes out although I may just get the ebook to avoid having to listen to that character.

What a steaming pile

Horrendous, simply horrendous.
I lost ALL respect for both the MC and the author by chapter 16.
I was lured in by the promise of gritty paranormal bounty hunting...
What I got was Jerry Springer with vampires instead.
The MC gets sexually assaulted, beaten and nearly killed.
Then within 48 is cheating on her long term boyfriend with the skeevy ER Dr who treated her at the hospital.
I will be returning this book for a refund it's that terrible.
