Story
For fifty years, Venetia Hargreaves’s world revolved around her husband. She built their life around his big career, with dinner on the table at six, a lovely home, and a dutiful son just as business-minded as his father. Now Venetia’s a wealthy widow left with a beautiful but empty home, an enviable bank balance, and a distinct feeling that she missed the boat. Once upon a time, she was a dance instructor who dreamed of opening her own ballroom school with a fellow teacher who won her heart. Instead, Venetia chose the safer path.

Story
Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

Story
Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

The narrator did a fine job, and the story qua story was interesting. However, the frequent Christian dissertations was distracting from the story itself.

Awesome read for newbies and experienced nurses alike
Reviewed: 09-13-24
I’ve been a nurse for 18 years, and I still recall the feeling of being a new nurse on my first unit. And having the same feelings when I transferred from oncology to medical ICU. Especially for those of us who enjoyed a successful career prior to nursing, the shock of going from expert in one field to novice in another definitely can be eased (or exacerbated) by the way the experienced nurses treat the new nurses. I really appreciate Sonja’s advice on how to handle the growth of one’s nursing practice and the exhortation to put a stop to the bullying that has beset our profession for far too long. Thank you, Sonja!

This is such an important review of the global supply chain and the reality of current economic theory. Although Henry Ford had some horrific views, his understanding that company employees were also consumers should be adopted anew by today’s global conglomerates.

His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden.
