About the Creator- Drew Hayes

About the Creator

Drew Hayes is an author from Texas who has written several books and found the gumption to publish a few (so far). He graduated from Texas Tech with a B.A. in English, because evidently he's not familiar with what the term “employable” means. Drew has been called one of the most profound, prolific, and talented authors of his generation, but a table full of drunks will say almost anything when offered a round of free shots. Drew feels kind of like a D-bag writing about himself in the third person like this. He does appreciate that you're still reading, though.
Drew would like to sit down and have a beer with you. Or a cocktail. He's not here to judge your preferences. Drew is terrible at being serious, and has no real idea what a snippet biography is meant to convey anyway. Drew thinks you are awesome just the way you are. That part, he meant. Drew is off to go high-five random people, because who doesn't love a good high-five? No one, that's who.

About the Performer

Amy Landon hails from a small town in Idaho. She fell in love with Shakespeare in 5th grade and continues a life-long love affair with language. She has pursued her craft on both sides of the country and a number of places in between.
She stays true to her roots in the Rockies by climbing mountains around the world. She has stood atop Kilimanjaro, at the base of Everest, along the high ridges of the Andes, crossed the Grand Canyon and danced at the base of Mont Blanc in the Swiss Alps.
She currently abides in Los Angeles with her cat Juniper, many plants and her beloved Harley. She narrates audiobooks and continues to act on the stage and in front of the camera. She continues to follow her dreams of taking over the universe, circling the globe on two wheels and trying to bake the perfect biscuit.

A light story for those of us who like dogs and magic

This is a light story for those of us who like dogs and magic and has great promise. As you sure, the story is being told in a way that builds up the suspense and enriches the story at the same time. Can't wait for the next one

Fun, but pretty short intro.

This is not my normal genre, but I found the writing solid, and enjoyed the characters quite a bit. This felt like the opening half of a full novel due to a pretty short duration of a bit over 3 hours. That issue aside, it certianly got my attention, and will likely check out the next entry in the story.

Bite Sized Fun

Reads like the opening quest of a fantasy game. Lots of fun and lots of heart!

Poor narration

Like most of Hayes’s stories, this one is engaging and interesting, but for the first time, I had a terrible time actually listening to the whole story - and this is barely a novella! I guess I’ve become spoiled by voice actors because this narrator is simply a reader, clearly not an actor. The whole story is read with the insipid artificial cheer and excitement throughout like she’s reading to a toddler, regardless whether it’s appropriate for the tone of the scene. The only thing worse is computer reading.

Great book, but way, way too short.

I can understand the author wanting to just write a quick short fun story, especially as a break from his other larger books. However, the way Audible charges for these books it makes it very expensive for the listener. I will likely buy the second book, but wait for a sale, but even then, paying ~2$ an hour for a audio book is a bit expensive.

It’s a good novella, but not a novel

The quality of Hayes writing is terrific as always. But it’s very short, just the beginning of a story. It seems like this is the first entry of a novel that was split into novellas. I’m looking forward to reading the other novellas, but going from the epics of Super Powereds to this leaves me feeling like it’s missing a lot.

YA that's still interesting for OA

I've long since graduated from a Young Adult to an Old Adult and I find that I've lost interest in the same old tropes of YA fiction. I picked up this one because I've liked other Drew Hayes books and a super dog sounded interesting. I was pleased to find that not only does it have the optimistic feeling I like in YA, but it does so while not treating the reader like they're dumb. There were intriguing glimpses into the world that kept me curious and excited to see what comes next.

Heartwarming surprise

Initially I was hoping this would be similar to superpowereds, but was delightfully surprised to find myself in a completely different world. The story is full of imagination and charm often found in Drew Hayes writing. Looking forward to seeing more development in this world he’s created. Wanda and Wumble are such a wonderful pair. <3

Adorable Corgi Mutt with Super Powers

my only criticism is that the novella was too brief. I want to see more of the world, but I REALLY want to see more of our humble Wumble.
